According to Get West London, Newcastle United are not interested in signing Brentford’s Jota this summer, despite reports linking him with a move to St James’ Park earlier this week.

Reports suggested that Newcastle, along with Premier League rivals, Everton and West Ham United, were keen to sign Jota this summer, with the forward entering the final 12-months of his contract at Griffin Park.

However, latest indications suggest Newcastle are not pursuing a deal for the forward, who is valued at £8m by Brentford and Dean Smith.

Jota has been at Griffin Park for three-years, but his time in London was disrupted by a loan move to Eibar in January 2016, which saw the 25-year old spend 12-months in La Liga before returning to Brentford in January.

During the second-half of the 2016/17 campaign, Jota was exceptional for Smith’s side, helping the Bees to finish tenth in the Sky Bet Championship and put in some impressive performances.

The forward scored 12 goals from 21 Championship appearances, including a hat-trick against Rotherham United in February.

Throughout his three-years at Griffin Park, Jota has made 74 appearances for the Bees and scored 23 goals, all of which have come in the Championship.
