Blackburn Rovers are flying high in Sky Bet League One, with Tony Mowbray’s side looking to secure an instant return to the Championship.
Mowbray’s side currently top the division, and on Saturday afternoon took another step back towards the second-tier, beating Blackpool 3-0.
Adam Armstrong was once again central to Blackburn’s success, with the on-loan Newcastle United forward bagging two goals in the victory at Ewood Park.
Here at FLW, we take a closer look at Armstrong’s stats:
The 21-year-old has made 12 appearances for Blackburn so far, scoring seven goals and assisting a further two.
The striker has a shot conversion of 25% and is scoring a goal every 119.3 minutes he plays.
A busy style of play has also seen Armstrong fouled on four occasions, with the youngster’s impact in League One to be applauded.
Armstrong looks set to guide Blackburn back to the Championship, where we believe he is more than capable impressing.
Of course, last season Armstrong spent time with Barnsley in the Championship and earlier in the year he was with Bolton Wanderers, however, we believe his latest loan spell could alert Sheffield Wednesday to his talent.
There is no doubting that Armstrong will be pulling plenty of praise due to his form, and Championship clubs will surely be taking a look in the summer.
The Newcastle forward would be perfect at Hillsborough, offering something completely different to what Jos Luhukay has available to him.
Wednesday’s strikers are powerful and a real handful, but the likes of Jordan Rhodes, Atdhe Nuhiu and co don’t offer what Armstrong does.
Armstrong is a really promising young striker, who looks like he is finally benefitting from his loan spells away from Newcastle.
If the 21-year-old can continue to develop at Blackburn, a club like Sheffield Wednesday might seriously consider taking a punt.
