After a season filled with errors and inconsistency from all three of their senior goalkeepers, Millwall required a safe pair of hands ahead of the 2019/2020 campaign - and in came the ever-reliable Bartosz Bialkowski from relegated Ipswich Town.

It didn't take long before Lions fans recognised the calibre of goalkeeper they had on their hands. And, not only has the Polish international been arguably Millwall's player of the year, but he deserves recognition across the whole of the Championship as one of the best keepers in the second-tier.

Here, we take a closer look at Bialkowski's stats for Millwall this term........

Having seen his transfer to Millwall completed almost a month later than it should have after a previous knee injury flagged up during his initial medical, Bialkowski missed the whole of pre-season and unsurprisingly found himself on the bench for the Lions' season-opening victory against Preston North End at The Den.

But whilst luck wasn't on Bialkowski's side during pre-season, it certainly was on the opening day as Frank Fielding suffered a quad on the stroke of half-time and was replaced by the giant Pole, who didn't shown an ounce of nerves on his Den debut.

Annoyingly for Bialkowski, if he remains injury-free until the end of the season, those 43 minutes he missed against Alex Neil's men will deprive him of achieving his first ever-present campaign in English football.

But if the Lions manage to continue their recent run and make the play-offs - something 'Bart' achieved back in 2014/2015 with Tractor Boys - playing ever minute will be seen as far less important.

In his 36 appearances since, the former Ipswich man has kept 11 clean sheets - with only Leeds United's Kiko Casilla (15) recording more shut-ups in both the Premier League and the Championship.

And with nine games remaining, Millwall have the sixth best defensive record in the division - conceding just 40 goals in their 37 matches, 15 fewer than they'd let in at this stage 12 months ago, which is a significant improvement.

By the time the season reaches its climax, Bialkowski could release his very own save of the season DVD as his array of incredible stops, but whether or not he manages to claim any individual awards, the Lions are in good hands for the foreseeable future and their previous goalkeeping issues are a thing of the past.
