It was always going to be a tough ask for Wycombe Wanderers to avoid the drop in the Championship this season.

The Chairboys enjoyed an excellent campaign in 2019/20, securing a memorable promotion to the second tier.

But it has been a tricky campaign for Gareth Ainsworth's side this time around, winning only five league matches to date and rooted to the foot of the table.

In midweek, they fell to their 22nd league defeat of the season, losing 1-0 to QPR in West London courtesy of Ilias Chair's first-half goal.

Wycombe fans will be proud of their team's effort this season, though, and Ainsworth will be keen to strengthen his squad and push for promotion in League One if they do go down.

Can you remember these 11 ex-Wycombe players who once played for the club?

We have devised a list, and reckon you may have forgotten about some of these...

Przemysław Kazimierczak joined Wycombe on loan from Bolton Wanderers in 2007.

The goalkeeper had spent time on loan at Accrington the previous season, but moved to Adams Park on a month's loan in September 2007.

Kazimierczak was to make only one appearance for Wycombe, though, featuring in a 2-0 away defeat to Swansea in the EFL Trophy.

He then went on to have spells at Darlington, Oldham Athletic and Whitby Town before returning to his native Poland. He has played there ever since, and is currently on the books of Zawisza Rzgów. Not many will remember his one and only appearance for the Chairboys.

Siegrist is another goalkeeper who fans may not remember.

The 29-year-old joined Wycombe on loan from Aston Villa in 2016, having previously had spells with the likes of Burton Albion, Cambridge United and Solihull Moors.

He made his one and only appearance for Wycombe in a 1-0 home defeat to Accrington Stanley in 2015/16.

His time at Villa came to an end shortly afterwards, as he moved to Switzerland and joined Vaduz.

Another player who the Wycombe faithful may have forgotten about.

Lonergan is a vastly experienced goalkeeper who also had a brief stint at Adams Park.

He joined the club in 2005 on loan from Preston North End, midway through his 11-year spell at Deepdale.

Lonergan did keep two clean sheets in two appearances for the Chairboys in clashes with Grimsby Town and Rushden & Diamonds.

But he returned to Preston after picking up an injury. He has recently had spells with Liverpool and Stoke City, and was part of Jurgen Klopp's squad which won the Champions League.

Sticking to the goalkeeper theme, who remembers Marek Stech.

Stech helped Luton win promotion from League Two in 2016/17, and is now on the books at Mansfield Town under Nigel Clough.

But in 2009, he had a brief spell on loan at Wycombe.

Stech joined the club in March 2009 and he made his debut in a 3-3 draw with Brentford, before picking up an injury and limiting to only two appearances in a Chairboys shirt.

He then had spells with AFC Bournemouth, Yeovil Town and Leyton Orient, before joining the Glovers in 2012 on a permanent basis.

Donacien is currently playing in a division one down from Wycombe, for Fleetwood Town on loan from Ipswich.

The full-back had a promising spell at Accrington before moving to the then-Championship Tractor Boys, but he had to work hard before doing so.

In 2015, he was sent on loan to Wycombe from Aston Villa, joining them a one-month loan in August 2015.

He ended up making only two senior appearances for the Chairboys, though, before his brief stint at Adams Park came to an end.

He played mainly as a centre-half for the club, but now plays as a full-back.

Sticking to the theme of defenders, who remembers Adam Thompson?

The defender came through the ranks at Watford, and after having a loan spell at Brentford, he spent time at Wycombe in 2012.

Thompson was to make only two appearances for the Wanderers, though, making his debut in a 1-0 defeat to another one of his former clubs, Southend United.

He is now playing in League Two, playing for Leyton Orient after joining the club from Rotherham earlier this season.

He was another one who failed to set the world alight in a brief loan spell at Adams Park.

Keogh is a vastly experienced player. He has had spells with the likes of Coventry City and Derby County, and was a key player for the latter as they narrowly missed out on promotion via the play-offs in 2018/19.

He's now playing at Huddersfield Town, but in 2005, he had a six-week loan spell at Adams Park from Bristol City.

He had a debut to forget, scoring an own-goal against Darlington in November, making only two more appearances before returning to Ashton Gate.

As alluded to before, he's looking to guide the Terriers to safety after starting the season in League One with MK Dons.

Adam Smith is currently helping Bournemouth fight at the right end of the Championship table, producing a series of impressive performances as the Cherries push for a top-six finish.

He did once have a loan spell at Wycombe, though.

He endured a month's loan at Adams Park from Tottenham Hotspur, and after impressing for the Chairboys, he was selected to play for the England Under-19 team.

He then had spells at the likes of Torquay and Leeds, before becoming a hugely important player for Bournemouth. He has now had seven seasons at the club altogether.

Henderson is currently a Premier League player, but he is yet to make a single senior appearance for Crystal Palace since joining the club in 2019.

This move came after a brief loan spell at Wycombe. In December 2018, the goalkeeper was sent on an emergency loan move to Wycombe from Nottingham Forest, and ended up making three appearances for the club around the Christmas period.

He ultimately fell out of favour at Forest and left upon the expiry of his contract in July 2019.

He will be hoping to feature for Palace at some points in the near future, though that does seem rather unlikely at this moment in time.

Taylor is widely known for his lengthy spell with Newcastle United, spending an impressive 13 years at St. James' Park.

In 2003, Taylor was sent out on loan for the first time in his career, joining Wycombe for a month under the management of Tony Adams.

Taylor featured six times for the Chairboys, before returning to Newcastle and spending 13 happy years with the Toon Army.

He now plays down under, playing for Australian A-League side Wellington Phoenix having previously been at Peterborough United.

It took Herd a little while to break into the first-team picture at Aston Villa, and in 2008, he was sent on loan to Wycombe after a brief spell at Port Vale.

The Australian midfielder was brought in as cover for a number of injured midfielders, and ended up making four appearances for the club.

Now 31, Herd is plying his trade in Asia for Malaysian outfit Terengganu FC, having joined the club in December.

He previously had three years in India, though, and his most recent spell in English football came with Gillingham in 2016/17.
