It is hard to get away from the fact that has been a disappointing season for Wolves given the high standards set particularly over the last couple of years.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side sit 13th in the Premier League table having yielded only nine wins from 29 games this term.

Nuno will be looking to guide his side to a strong end to the season, and then all eyes will turn to the summer.

The club have conducted some impressive transfer business in recent years under the Portuguese manager, and he will be eager to strengthen his squad with new signings this summer.

There are some signings over the years, though, who have failed to live up to expectations or just haven't had a look-in during their time at Molineux.

Here, we take you through a list of 11 players you probably forget ever played for Wolves.

Wheater is widely known for his time at Middlesbrough and Bolton Wanderers, spending eight years with the latter.

But in September 2006, he was sent on a three-month loan deal to Molineux from Boro.

He returned to Teesside in November, though, having made only one appearance for the Wanderers.

Mendez-Laing is currently at Middlesbrough under Neil Warnock after controversially leaving Cardiff City in September.

He did come through the ranks at Wolves, though, making only one first-team appearance before leaving for Peterborough United in 2012.

In his only appearance for the club, he did pick up the Man of the Match for his performance against Swindon Town in 2009.

Another player who you may have forgotten once played for Wolves is Elliott Bennett.

The right-sided defender is mostly known for his time at Norwich City, but came through the ranks at Molineux and featured twice for the first-team.

John was a Walter Zenga signing in August 2016.

But injured hampered his time at Molineux and he was limited to just 71 minutes of football across two appearances.

Holt is another player who is mostly known for his time at Norwich City.

But in 2015, he joined Wolves on loan from Wigan Athletic in search of regular game time.

In October he put pen to paper on a short-term loan deal at Molineux until January, making four appearances off the bench and failing to find the back of the net.

Bent joined Wolves on loan from Birmingham City in 2010/11.

He failed to score in five appearances for Mick McCarthy's side during his stay at Molineux.

Nouble joined Wolves as a free agent, following his departure from West Ham United in 2012.

He made just five appearances for the club and scored his only goal for the club against Northampton Town in the League Cup.

George Friend was an excellent servant for Middlesbrough and won promotion with the club in 2016.

He's now at Birmingham City but previously had a spell in the West Midlands with Wolves.

Friend featured only eight times for Wolves after joining from Exeter, making six appearances as they won promotion to the Premier League in 2008/09.

Mulgrew made plenty of appearances for the likes of Celtic and Blackburn Rovers in his career.

But in 2006, he left Celtic for Wolves, but injuries limited him to only nine appearances in a Wanderers shirt.

Robinson is the second-youngest ever player to have played for Liverpool, and in 2013, he joined Wolves on loan.

He joined in February and was a regular for the remainder of the season.

Martinez is currently one of the best performing goalkeepers in the Premier League for Aston Villa.

He spent time on loan at Molineux in 2015/16 but after making 15 appearances, a thigh injury sidelined him for the rest of the season.
