Brentford are currently well in the running for promotion to the Premier League this season, with Thomas Frank's side having done well to banish their play-off demons from the last campaign so far. 

Currently occupying fourth place in the standings, the Bees could enter the top three in the next game week if they win and other results fall in their favour across the division.

The West London side have come a long way over the past few years and it feels like it'll only be a matter of ti9me before they break their top division exile.

The midfielder was only afforded one appearance during his time with the Bees and has since carved out a reputable career for himself during spells at both Shrewsbury Town and now Reading in the Championship. He was with the West London side for a few years before joining Hartlepool United on a free transfer. The 25-year-old has been a regular during his time with the Royals so far as they aim to make the play-offs this term.

A winger who only made one single appearance for Brentford, Senior has gone on to become a key performer for his current side, Colchester United. The 23-year-old has made over 100 appearances for the Essex based club and has regularly caught the eye due to his skillful and creative style of play. Still very young in terms of being a professional, the winger could well earn himself a move to a higher division if he continues to impress in Sky Bet League Two over the coming months.

The Northern Irish goalkeeper only made one sole appearance during his stint in West London and has since gone on to ply his trade for the likes of Bury, Motherwell and Cheltenham Town. He has several caps for his country and at the age of 33 still has a few good years left in him as a professional. Still plying his trade in Scotland, Carson will be looking to continue to make a valuable impact for his side as his career winds down towards its end.

A centre back who is well known to many at Championship level due to his stints at both Swansea City and Fulham, Mawson was once on the books of Brentford and made a single appearance for the club before departing for pastures new. He has since gone on to impress in both the second division and the Premier League in recent years. Currently on loan at Bristol City, Mawson will be looking to impress Scott Parker before his return to the capital this summer.

The former Barnet and Lincoln City striker once played two games for the Bees before leaving West London and is currently still going strong in League One with Gillingham under the guidance of Steve Evans. A powerful forward, Akinde has been a regular scorer of goals in the lower leagues and still finds the net on a consistent basis to this day. The target man has been rotated a lot this term for the Gills and will be looking to add to his tally before the season is out.

Another keeper who made a handful of appearances for the West London side, McCarthy has since taken in spells at the likes of Reading, Crystal Palace and Southampton, developing a solid reputation for being a great shot stopper at Premier League level. He is currently the number one choice between the sticks for the Saints this season. His most notable contribution to date was an unbelievable display of goalkeeping during his time at Reading which in turn earnt him a move away from the Madejski Stadium further down the line.

The centre back made a few appearances for Brentford before departing for Wycombe Wanderers on a free transfer. A sound operator in the lower leagues, Pierre now ply's his trade for Shrewsbury Town in League One and is still regarded as one of the better players in his position at that level due to his good experience. He will be hoping that his side can get themselves back on track in the league after their recent inconsistencies with there still being time for the club to improve their league position before the season is out.

A quick and direct winger, Hudson made only a handful of appearances for the Bees before leaving for pastures new. The wideman went on to play for the likes of Aldershot Town and AFC Wimbledon as he made his way through the lower leagues and has largely failed to fulfill his true potential as a professional so far and currently finds himself without a club. His spell to date came during his time with the Shots as he made over 140 appearances for the club during a four year spell at The Rec.

A former Macclesfield Town forward, Sinclair was once on the books of Brentford before departing the club after making just a few appearances in red and white. He has since gone on to take in spells at various sides throughout the Football League and once developed a good reputation for scoring goals during his time at Moss Rose. He has since dropped down the levels to play for Liversedge in the Northern Counties East Football League, a side he has turned out for since 2018 as he continues to play on at the age of 33.

Something of a journeyman striker, Akpom once was on the books for Brentford and only made a small amount of appearances during his time in West London. Now back in England with Middlesbrough after a spell abroad, the frontman is looking to discoverer his scoring touch under Neil Warnock as Boro seek to stay in the running for the play-offs this term. He has enjoyed a mixed spell at the Riverside so far this term and has been with the club since 2020 after joining from PAOK in Greece. Akpom was previously highly rated at international level too, turning out for England at various youth levels.

The brother of reality TV star Mark Wright, Josh has been in and around the Football League for a few years now and was once on the books of the Bees during the earlier stages of his career. A midfielder by trade, the former Gillingham man now turns out for Crawley Town in League Two with his brother at the age of 31. Wight also received recognition for his talents at a younger age as he turned out for England at various youth levels during his time at Charlton Athletic before he then departed the Valley on several occasions for a series of loans to the lower leagues.
