Over the years, there have been plenty of players who have pulled on the famous claret and blue shirts of Aston Villa.

Some inevitably, will have made a much bigger impact at Villa Park than others, and will therefore be better remembered by the club's fanbase.

But how well do you remember some of those who did not make quite as significant an impact during their time in the Midlands?

Here, we've taken a look at 11 players who you may not remember actually played for Villa at senior level, given their brief time with the club's first-team.

How many of these names do you recognise?

We start this list with defender Derrick Williams, who came through Villa's academy to earn himself a place in the senior side for the 2011/12 campaign.

That however, led to just one senior appearance for the club, as a substitute in a 1-1 draw with QPR in December, before leaving the club for Bristol City in the summer of 2013, later playing for Blackburn before moving to America to join LA Galaxy earlier this year.

Crespo joined Villa on a three-year deal from Spanish side Cordoba in the summer of 2015, although his stay would be much shorter than that.

The defender made just one league appearance for the club, starting a 1-0 defeat to Stoke, before moving to Rayo Vallecano on loan in January 2016, and leaving permanently to join PAOK in the summer of 2016.

Carroll joined Villa on loan from their then Championship rivals Swansea City during the 2019 January transfer window.

However, the midfielder would make just appearances for Villa, both as a substitute, before his loan spell was cut short by injury with Carroll returning to the Liberty Stadium in April 2019.

A graduate of Villa's academy, Blackett-Taylor is one of those who was unable to quite make the first-team grade at Villa Park.

His solitary league appearance for the club came as an 87th minute substitute for Villa in a 1-0 defeat to Huddersfield in March 2017, with his only other appearances also as a substitute in the League Cup following season, with the winger leaving for Tranmere in 2019.

Moreira joined Villa on loan from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid in the 2018 summer transfer window, although his time with the club did not earn him much in terms of playing opportunities.

The goalkeeper's only outings as a Villa player came in League Cup clashes with Yeovil Town and Burton Albion, where he did at least save a penalty against the Glovers.

Another graduate of Villa's academy, Lowry's only appearances for the club came in the 2009/10 season, with three substitute appearances, one in the FA Cup, and two in the Europa League.

The defender, who has also gone on to represent Millwall, Leyton Orient, Birmingham and Perth Glory, now plays for Al Ahli in Qatar.

A former member of Arsenal's academy, Carruthers joined Villa as a 16-year-old in June 2009.

However, the midfielder was unable to make a breakthrough at senior level for Villa, with all three of his appearances for the club coming as a substitute in the Premier League in 2012, before he left for MK Dons in 2013.

Already an experienced American international when he joined Villa on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach in January 2011, Bradley probably didn't quite live up to expectations at Villa Park.

The midfielder played just three league and one FA Cup games for Villa during his spell in the Midlands , only starting in the cup, with then manager Alex McLeish electing not to make that loan deal permanent.

Having come through Villa's academy, Toner made the step up to the first-team in 2015.

However, the midfielder would go on to make just four appearances for the club, all towards the end of the 2015/16 season, with the midfielder leaving 12 months later, and now going on to play for La Nucia in the Spanish third-tier.

A product of Villa's youth team, Robinson made his debut for the club as a late substitute in a League Cup defeat to Tottenham in September 2013.

However, the Irishman would go on to make just four more appearances for Villa, all of which came as a substitute in the 2013/14 season, before eventually leaving on a permanent basis in the summer of 2016.

Helenius joined Villa from Aalborg in 2013 with an decent record in front of goal from his time in Denmark.

However, the striker would spend one season with Villa before returning to Aalborg having made just six appearances for the English club, scoring once, in an FA Cup defeat to Sheffield United.
