Sunderland have been credited with an interest in Leyton Orient striker Josh Koroma, as reported by the Daily Mail via the Chronicle Live.

The 20-year-old was a key part of the Orient side that recently won promotion back to the Football League and was reported to be a transfer target for the Black Cats in January.

They failed with a £300,000 bid back then, but they're looking to go back for the striker this summer as they look to bolster their attack for the upcoming season, be it in League One or the Championship.

Their immediate future is still to be decided, with a play-off final against Charlton this weekend to get through if they're to make an immediate return to the second-tier.

Koroma scored 11 goals and added seven assists last season and can play as a central striker or in the wide areas.

The Southwark-born attacker has been with Orient throughout his youth career and has one England C cap to his name.

The Verdict

Here's one for the future, but certainly an option worth looking at for the Black Cats. His versatility means he'd sit nicely in either the central striker role or in the wide area of the bank of three behind the striker.

Sunderland prefer the 4-2-3-1 formation, something likely to be played much more if they do go up and Koroma would fit into that perfectly.

He's also not dissimilar to Josh Maja and perhaps they're hoping to recapture the magic he produced in the first part of this season.
