Reading secured their first win under new boss Jose Gomes against high-flying Nottingham Forest last week.

The challenge now will be to build on the impressive win and make it back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

The three points lifted the Royals up a place ahead of Bolton Wanderers to 22nd and just two points adrift of safety.

To survive, Gomes will surely need to dip into the transfer market to bolster his side accordingly to put on a late show in the second half of the campaign.

Failing to do so could be catastrophic for their hopes of survival having had a squad too weak to cope with the demands of the second tier.

With that said, Reading finalise these TWO transfers would surely delight the Reading faithful...

Jamal Lowe arrives at the Madejski

With 11 goals this term, Jamal Lowe has been a superstar for Portsmouth this year as they sit top of League One heading into the final few months of the season.

Potentially a long shot in getting this deal done, but it would make such a difference at the Madejski Stadium.

Reading lack a clinical marksman in attack and a player to be the link between the lines to link up between the midfield and attack.

David Meyler departs for pastures new

Having been transfer listed by new boss Jose Gomes, David Meyler could well be off during this window.

A summer signing after leaving Hull, the 29-year-old has made just five appearances this year and has offered very little when on the pitch.

Reading fans might be glad to see the back of the Irishman, who has failed to live up to expectation upon his arrival.

He has had a role to play in the club’s downfall this year despite only arriving before the season started.

Having him leave the club could be something to cheer come the end of the transfer window.
