11 aerials won, 3 shots: The Cardiff star whose all-action showing helped put Boro away

Cardiff City continued their promotion push at the weekend with another good win against Middlesbrough in the Championship.

It seems pretty safe to assume that the men from South Wales are going to be competing at the sharp end for the rest of the season and with Derby not playing and Aston Villa losing, they are now in the driving seat.

Certainly, their win over play-off chasing Boro was another professional and solid performance and the standout man was surely our latest FLW Spotlight subject – Sean Morrison:

The Cardiff City defender has got stats that you could argue are those from any striker or midfielder over the Championship weekend, such was his all-action display.

A real force at the back, Morrison showed he’s more than capable of performing further forwards too with his goal and a trio of shots.

Perhaps most impressive, though, is the sheer amount of aerial duels he won in the game.

Many defenders would see numbers like that for a month’s total let alone just one match and that underlines how key Morrison was in the win over Boro.

Indeed, he has been a rock all season with Bruno Manga at the back and if the two remain strong, along with the continuing form of those in front of them, Cardiff will really be hard to stop from getting promoted.
