Nottingham Forest have endured an extremely frustrating season so far and are currently not looking capable of achieving a top six finish.

The Reds had put themselves in a strong position but a run of three defeats in four means they are now down in 13th and eight points behing East Midlands rivals Derby who occupy the final play-off spot.

Incredibly, Forest have yet to draw a game all season, winning nine and losing 11 of the 20 games they've played and that lack of resilience and determination to keep teams out is costing them.

Going forward, Mark Warburton's side seem fine, but they struggle for clean sheets. However, is that there only problem?

Here we take a look at what the former Rangers manager would need to spend next month in order to secure a top six finish in May...

Alfie Burns

£10m.

£5m on an experienced goalkeeper and another £5m on a quality central defender.

Forest’s downfall this season has been their defence, which has conceded far too many goals to compete for the top-six.

Warburton needs to strengthen that area in January with one or two quality additions.

Adam Simeoni

A few million is needed at The City Ground.

Forest have been so inconsistent this season and need to add some experience to their side.

Looking at soon to be free agents may save the club a few quid, but Warburton will have to pull out the chequebook if he wants to secure a top-six berth this season.

George Dagless

£5m-£10m roughly.

The thing is with Forest they just need to address their defence.

Can they find players good enough to make the difference in the mid-season window? I'm not too sure.

If they can, though, we'll be looking at about £5m-£10m.
