West Bromwich Albion continued their fantastic start to the 2019/20 campaign last Saturday as they secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Hull City at the KCOM Stadium.

Having entered the clash brimming with confidence following their impressive performance against Stoke City earlier this month, the Baggies made a bright start to the clash as they dominated possession at the KCOM Stadium.

However, they had to wait until the 28th minute to open the scoring as Jake Livermore fired home a stunning effort from the edge of the box.

Undeterred by this setback, Hull went close to levelling up proceedings as Jackson Irvine's effort was denied by goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

Grady Diangana then spurned a great opportunity to double his side's advantage just before half-time as his low shot flew past the post.

Although Hull pushed forward in the second-half, the Baggies held on to seal all three points.

Whilst manager Slaven Bilic would have been delighted with his side's performance, he will be less pleased with West Brom's current suspension woes.

With Romaine Sawyers and Livermore both set to miss the club's clash with Sheffield Wednesday on November 23rd after picking up yellow cards against Hull, the Croatian may have to call upon the services of Chris Brunt at the Hawthorns.

Having been limited to just four appearances this season for the Baggies, the 34-year-old will have a point to prove if he is indeed given the nod to start against the Owls by Bilic.

Here, in our latest spotlight article, we assess whether Brunt could be the ideal man to slot into the heart of West Brom's midfield by taking a look at his statistics from last season.

A major part of West Brom's plans during the previous campaign, Brunt played a total of 2502 minutes for the club.

In the 36 appearances that he made for the Baggies, the midfielder illustrated a real eye for a pass as he provided seven assists for his team-mates.

Providing that he replicates a similar level of creativity against Wednesday, he may be able to inspire his side to victory later this month.

Extremely composed whilst in possession of the ball, Brunt completed 79% of his passes last season which is no mean feat given just how frantic games can be in the Championship.

By dictating the tempo of West Brom's clash with the Owls, the former Northern Ireland international could end up producing an eye-catching performance at the Hawthorns.

Given that he was only able to score once during the previous term, Brunt may not trouble Wednesday goalkeeper Keiren Westwood.

Furthermore, when you consider that the midfielder only won 44.2% of his defensive duels last year, he may struggle to compete with the likes of Barry Bannan and Kieran Lee.

However, Brunt's ability to break up play could come in handy for West Brom as he recorded 109 interceptions during the previous campaign.

Blessed with a wealth of experience at this particular level of football, the midfielder may turn out to be the ideal man to fill the void left by Sawyers and Livermore.
