Plenty of Nottingham Forest fans have taken to social media to discuss whether the team should try to sign Dwight Gayle in January.

Forest were keen on signing the striker in the summer and if recent reports are to be believed, they could decide to reignite their interest in the Newcastle United forward in January.

The Reds have made a promising start to the season in the Championship, but saw their ten-match unbeaten league came to an end yesterday with a 1-0 defeat at Wigan Athletic.

Lewis Grabban is the main striker at the City Ground and Forest's top scorer this season with five goals, although aside from the 31-year-old, the Reds are short on attacking options.

On-loan Wolves striker Rafa Mir made his first league start of the season against Wigan yesterday but struggled to make an impact and missed a couple of big chances before being replaced by Grabban in the second half.

However, if Forest were to sign Gayle, they would be getting a forward with plenty of experience in the Championship and a striker who scored 24 goals at this level while on loan at West Brom last season.
