In the summer of 2014, Leeds United sold centre-back Tom Lees to Sheffield Wednesday as he was deemed not good enough for the Whites.

Flashforward four years and you can not help but wonder if Lees is just the person that Leeds United could do with in their squad right now.

He has become an important member of the Hillsborough side and played 29 times for them last season in the league, captaining them for a lot of those matches.

With Marcelo Bielsa continuing to miss out on defensive targets you can't help but think that maybe Lees would have been worth holding on to.

But would the 27-year-old start were he still at Elland Road?

We discuss...

Alfie Burns

100% - He's so much better than Liam Cooper.

I do have my doubts about Lees, as he did struggle at Elland Road previously, but if he was available to Marcelo Bielsa, he’d be in the starting XI.

That’s probably more to do with how poor Leeds’ options are, though.

George Dagless

He'd walk into the side.

He's a top centre-half at Championship level and when fit he'd get into many teams.

A defensive line with him and Pontus Jansson together would be tough to beat but it's probably unlikely the Whites can get him.

Jay Williams

At the moment, there is no question about it – of course he would! Bielsa plays three at the back and they only have Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper as the senior centre-halves in their squad.

Lees is a top defender at Championship level and would be a better option than Cooper, so he’d start even if they played two central defenders.

Gary Hutchinson

At present I'm not sure they have eleven do they? After all, they've sent a lot packing and brought very few in.

Lees would still get in, he's proven his quality at Hillsborough and is growing in stature and confidence with each passing season.

Chris Gallagher

Easily.

He's a quality defender at this level and Leeds are desperate for a new centre-back. They would love to have him back at Elland Road.
