Many Ipswich Town fans have reacted to Freddie Sears’ latest comments on the club’s chances of achieving automatic promotion.
The Blues topped the League One table for a considerable amount of time at the start of the season, but their form of late has seen them drop out of the playoff places.
Poor results have seen them drop six points off second placed Peterborough with just 13 games remaining in the league.
A 0-0 draw with AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday evening ensured Paul Lambert’s side a fourth league game without a win.
Facing Burton Albion this weekend, Ipswich must ensure they get a victory – knowing that four of the sides above them and six below – have one game in hand.

Speaking to East Anglian Daily Times, striker Sears has reflected on his side’s current league position and admitted that an automatic promotion place may now be out of the question.
“It’s made how things can change in a week,” he is quoted as saying. “Three or four games ago we were top of the league and, if we had beaten Rotherham, you probably would have said we were going to win the league hands down.
“Now we’re probably looking at the play-offs. We would love to be in the automatic promotion mix but we have to start winning games. It is no good talking about what we want to do because if you do not win games then you do not deserve to be there.
“I think play-offs is the aim and we will go from there.”
Following Sears’ comment, Football League World’s Ben Crump quizzed Ipswich fans via Facebook page Ipswich Town Talk of the Town, asking: “Freddie Sears saying that automatic promotion is now out of reach for us – Do you agree with him?
And below are just some of the responses from fans of the club:
Matt Lomax: Yep I hope we have a massive turn around but cannot see it
Shane Lomax: Playoffs are out of reach!!
Martin Porter: We are a very poor side. That’s the reason we got relegated. Nowehere near the best squad in the division.
Geoffrey Bingham: 100%. No chance. Nowhere near good enough for the top two. Doubtful we will even make the play-offs the way we’re playing and not winning games.
John Naunton: Not with 13 games left…but more in hope than realism
Carol Francis: Yes of course we’ll most probably be mid table by then
Don Welsh: I think we could make play offs but not good enough to win them
Dillon Michael Carfoot: We are very poor….Garbutt and KVY aside
Stephen Parry: Well who knows if your pessimistic you would say he is right by I’ll agree after its mathematically impossible cause anything can happen.
Doug Purnell: We should have walked it as people said we have the best squad in the division by far….righto! Top heavy midfield full of similar players, no midfield intelligence to change a game, no decent full back cover, and very shot shy. Play-offs for us but on the plus side our run in is decent so hopefully pick a lot of points up from mid/low league teams
