Stoke City head into their final two matches of the season, knowing that mid-table safety is all they have to show for this first season under the stewardship of Nathan Jones.

Jones has failed to make a huge impact at the Bet365 Stadium and will be looking forward to the chance to stamp his mark on the squad in the summer, with youth high on the agenda for the new Potters chief, as reported in the Stoke Sentinel.

So is Jones right to leave the door open to youth at Stoke?

We discuss........

Benjamin Lang

"Absolutely. Stoke definitely need a fresh look.

"There are too many players at the club who are still reeling after their Premier League relegation, or who aren't putting a good shift in for their side.

"Stoke have a batch of talented youngsters who could be vital to Jones' long-term vision for the club."

Louie Chandler

"100%, it's the right call.

"If Stoke have shown us one thing this season it is that splashing significant money on proven players does not always work.

"Considering the Potters best player this season has arguably been youth graduate Tom Edwards, it makes perfect sense to leave the door open."

Gary Hutchinson

“Of course, you have to.

“What’s the point in academies, Under 23 sides and all that is the door isn’t open?

“I’d be worried if he closed it, that would show an ignorance of the whole set up.

“The proof will come when he does actually blood a young player.”
