Leeds United will have a decision to make over the future of goalkeeper Illan Meslier in the summer and it appears plenty of Whites fans are keen on him joining the club permanently.

The Frenchman arrived from Ligue 2 side Lorient on a season-long loan in the summer, arriving as cover for Kiko Casilla after Bailey Peacock-Farrell's exit.

Meslier played second fiddle to Casilla for the majority of the campaign but has stepped up to the first team following the Spaniard's suspension due to a racism charge.

The Whites shot-stopper has featured twice in the Championship so far, keeping clean sheets on both occasions, and impressed against Arsenal the FA Cup.

Prior to his suspension, Casilla had been shaky in the 2019/20 campaign and made some big mistakes behind arguably the best defence in the division.

It was suggested earlier this month that the 33-year-old's days at Elland Road could be numbered, which could mean Meslier is given the number one jersey on a full-time basis.

Leeds are understood to have an option to buy the 20-year-old at the end of the season for a reported fee of £5 million.

Speaking in a recent interview, Adam Forshaw revealed that Meslier is a big character in the dressing room already, which appears to have left Whites supporters even more keen on ensuring he joins them permanently.
