Norwich City are preparing to embark on life back in the Premier League after sealing promotion at the first time of asking this season.

The Canaries romped their way to the Sky Bet Championship title back in 2018/19, but were relegated after a lacklustre season last term.

Nevertheless, the likes of Teemu Pukki, Emi Buendia and Max Aarons remained, as did Daniel Farke, who has guided Norwich to their second league title in three years this season.

Norwich have, quite simply, been a class above in the Championship this season. They have been far too good for the teams trying to beat them, and now the onus is on the recruitment team to bring in players who help them stay in the Premier League.

Norwich's recruitment was poor in the summer of 2019 following their promotion, and here, we take a look at 10 transfer shockers Norwich will want to avoid repeating in the summer of 2021...

Drmic joined Norwich on a three-year deal from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer of 2019.

The Croatian's goalscoring record over in Germany was hardly inspiring, which raised question marks amongst Norwich fans straight away.

In last season's Premier League campaign, Drmic made 21 appearances and scored only one goal, before being sent off in the final home game of the season.

He wasn't named in the 25-man squad for Norwich ahead of this season, and hasn't made a single appearance for the Canaries since their relegation.

He has spent this season in Croatia on loan with Rijeka, scoring four goals in 13 games.

He looks like a lost cause and it was a waste of time bringing him in, quite frankly.

There was plenty of excitement when Wildschut joined Norwich from Wigan for around £7million in January 2017.

The winger contributed to seven goals and 14 assists for Wigan in League One in 2015/16, helping them win promotion to the Championship.

He impressed for the Latics in the first half of 2016/17, before leaving for Norwich in January for £7million.

The Dutchman made 29 appearances for the Canaries, though, scoring two goals and struggling to get into the team under Daniel Farke.

Loan spells with Bolton and Cardiff followed, before he left for Maccabi Haifa in July 2019.

Lafferty arrived at Carrow Road from Palermo in the summer of 2014, as they looked to win promotion to the Premier League.

They did just that, but in Lafferty's absence. The Northern Ireland international moved to Çaykur Rizespor on loan in February, after scoring one goal in 18 league appearances in the Championship.

Two years later at the end of 2016/17, Lafferty was released upon the expiry of his contract at Carrow Road.

Lafferty scored four goals in 39 appearances for the Canaries in total, and he struggled to make an impact during his time in Norfolk.

Van Wolfswinkel joined Norwich for £8.5million in the summer of 2013, after scoring 14 goals for Sporting CP in 2012/13.

The Dutchman's time at Norwich got off to the perfect start, scoring on his debut in a 2-2 Premier League draw with Everton at Carrow Road.

That was to be one of only two goals van Wolfswinkel scored in a Canaries shirt, though, before leaving for Vitesse in 2016.

Norwich were relegated to the Championship in 2015/16 after he had loan spells with Saint-Etienne and Real Betis.

Naismith arrived at Norwich from Everton in January 2016, with the Canaries paying £8million for his signature.

The Scotland international scored one goal in 13 appearances for the remainder of the season, though, as they were relegated to the Championship.

Naismith then scored five goals in 29 Championship appearances the following season, as they struggled to adapt to life back in the second tier and missed out on promotion.

A loan move to Hearts then followed, as the Scottish forward failed to make an impact under Daniel Farke upon the German's arrival at Carrow Road.

Michael Theoklitos joined Norwich, who were in League One at the time, from Melbourne Victory in the summer of 2009.

His time at Carrow Road got off to perhaps the worst possible start, making his debut in a 7-1 home defeat to Colchester United.

He had conceded five goals before half-time, which led to Bryan Gunn's departure and Paul Lambert's arrival.

Theo left Norwich in March 2010 by mutual consent, with that Colchester game proving to be his only game in a Norwich shirt.

Elmander joined Norwich on loan from Galatasaray in the summer of 2013, but failed to replicate the form he displayed for Bolton Wanderers in England.

Elmander scored only three goals in 34 games for the Canaries as they were relegated from the Premier League.

He was brought in to add more firepower up top, but in the end, he failed to make any sort of impact in the final third and his record in front of goal was poor.

He's now out of the game having retired in 2018 after a good career in the game.

Miquel joined Norwich on a three-year deal from Arsenal in 2014 as they prepared for life back in the Championship.

The defender was to make only two appearances for the Canaries, though, with one of those coming in the League Cup and one coming in the FA Cup.

Miguel failed to make a single appearance in the Championship as they won promotion back to the Premier League.

At the end of the season, his contract was terminated and he returned to his native of Spain to join Ponferradina.

He was a really underwhelming signing, despite expectations being high at first.

Yobo made a name for himself at Everton, but he returned to England to join Norwich in the second half of the 2013/14 season.

But the Nigerian international was unable to use his experience to full effect and prevent the Canaries from falling into the Championship.

He failed to impress in eight Premier League appearances, and Norwich chose not to activate their permanent option to bring him to Carrow Road for good.

Having impressed for Barnsley in 2016/17, scoring 10 goals and adding nine assists for the struggling Tykes, Watkins was seen as an exciting addition for Norwich.

But the attacker, in his first season at Carrow Road, failed to score in 24 league appearances and didn't register an assist.

The following season, he was sold to Bristol City after failing to make an impact under Daniel Farke, and is now out of favour at Ashton Gate.

He's had time on loan at Aberdeen this season, but has failed to make an impression and it remains to be seen what lies in store for him.
