Coventry City have had their fair share of signings over the years that simply haven't hit the heights originally set for them.

The Sky Blues are currently playing their football in the Championship, and they'll be keen to build on an impressive 6-1 win over Millwall on the final day of this year's campaign.

That win meant that Mark Robins' side finished 16th in the second-tier standings, and 12 points clear of the relegation zone, in what was their first season back in the Championship, after winning promotion in the 2019/20 campaign.

It's set to be an interesting summer transfer window ahead, as Robins looks to add to his squad ahead of the 2021/22 campaign, where the Sky Blues will be targeting a top-half finish.

If they get their transfer business wrong though, they could well be facing another tricky season in the Championship, with relegation a possibility.

We take a look at TEN Coventry City transfers from over the years that the club will be keen to avoid repeating this summer.

Find out which player is first up, on the next page....

Tim Sherwood is the first name on the list, with the former Coventry City man making just 11 appearances for the club in total.

Sherwood's spell with the Sky Blues wasn't one to remember for all parties involved, in what proved to be his last spell as a player.

He retired from his playing days in 2005, having played for the likes of Norwich City, Blackburn Rovers and Tottenham Hotspur earlier in his career.

Sherwood has had spells in the dugout with Spurs and Aston Villa in the past, but his spell at Villa Park reached a conclusion in 2015.

Peter Ramage is next up, and he's another defender that failed to make a notable impact in his time with the Sky Blues.

Ramage had previously been on the books with the likes of Newcastle United and Crystal Palace prior to his arrival at Coventry City.

But he made just four appearances for the Sky Blues, before departing in the same year he first signed for the club.

Ramage went on to sign for Phoenix Rising, which is where he finished his playing career in 2017, after spending one season with the American club.

Yakubu caught the eye with a number of impressive performances earlier in his career for the likes of Blackburn Rovers and Everton.

But his spell with Coventry City wasn't the best on his CV, with the forward only making three appearances for the club in total.

He failed to score a single goal from those three appearances, before calling time on his career after his spell with the Sky Blues reached a conclusion in 2017.

Yakubu arrived with plenty of promise, but failed to live up to the hype that made him such a fans favourite at Goodison Park with Everton.

You could forgive plenty of Coventry City fans for forgetting who Oleksandr Yevtushok even is, after the Ukrainian made such a minimal impact with the Sky Blues.

He signed for the club back in 1997, but only went on to make three appearances for Coventry City, in a disastrous spell with the club.

Yevtushok made his debut against Manchester United, but was substituted after just 30 minutes in a 3-1 loss for the Sky Blues.

He left the club in the same year he signed for them, and returned to Ukraine, where he eventually retired from his playing career in 2000.

Viorel Moldovan is another forgetful European-born player that struggled in his time with Coventry City.

Moldovan made ten league appearances for the Sky Blues, after signing for the club in 1998, having spent the earlier stages of his career with the likes of Neuchâtel Xamax and Grasshoppers.

His forgetful spell with Coventry City saw him somehow earn a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce, where he spent two years.

Moldovan called time on his career in 2007, after finishing his playing days with Romanian side Rapid București.

Trevor Benjamin is next up, with the former Coventry City forward finding life tough with the Sky Blues.

Having impressed with the likes of Cambridge United and Leicester City earlier in his career, he moved to Coventry City in 2005, after a brief spell with Northampton Town.

But Benjamin only scored one goal for the Sky Blues, and left the club in the same year he signed for them, which doesn't make for good reading.

He went on to play for the likes of Hereford, Peterborough United, and Woking later down the line, before his last spell as a player in 2012.

Bellamy arrived at Coventry City with high expectations to his name, after catching the eye with a number of strong performances for Norwich City.

The Welshman failed to replicate that form with the Sky Blues though, and only scored six goals in 35 appearances for Coventry, before leaving after one season with the club whilst they were in the Premier League.

He went on to sign for Newcastle United after that, before playing for the likes of Liverpool and Cardiff City later down the line.

Bellamy's spell at Coventry City was certainly a forgetful one, and plenty of supporters were left frustrated by his lack of impact with the Sky Blues.

Manset signed for Coventry City in August 2013, but only went on to make nine appearances for the club's first-team, scoring once in his time for the Sky Blues.

The forward caught the eye with some strong performances for Reading earlier in his career, but struggled to adjust to life with Coventry.

Having not featured since October 2013, Manset had his contract mutually terminated in January 2014, in what turned out to be a poor move for all parties involved.

Manset has struggled to settle down with a club since departing Coventry City, and was last seen playing his football in 2019 for French side FC Fleury 91.

Reece Brown is next up, with the former Coventry City defender finding life tough with the Sky Blues, whilst on loan from Manchester United in the 2012/13 season.

He failed to make the grade at Old Trafford though, and had loan spells with the likes of Doncaster Rovers and Bradford City before his loan spell with Coventry.

He left Manchester United permanently in 2013, as he went on to sign for Watford. Spells with the likes of Barnsley, Bury and Sheffield United followed that, before Brown's last spell as a player was in 2018, whilst with Rochdale in the third-tier of English football.

Kevin Kyle is the last name on the list, with the former Coventry City forward struggling to make a notable impact in his time with the Sky Blues.

Kyle only scored five goals in 44 appearances for Coventry City, and was also sent-off twice for the club, in what was a forgetful spell.

The forward was sent out on loan to the likes of Wolves and Hartlepool United towards the later stages of his time with the Sky Blues, before departing on a permanent basis in 2009.

Kyle went on to play for the likes of Kilmarnock and Rangers, before calling time on his playing days after a spell with Ayr United.
