Nottingham Forest bagged a 2-1 win at the City Ground yesterday to move up to ninth, five points outside the play-off spots.

Martin O'Neill bagged his second win as manager of the Reds at the expense of Thomas Frank's ailing Brentford side. Lewis Grabban opened the scoring, whilst Molla Wague added another with ten minutes to go.

There were tense moments as Sergi Canos pulled one back for the visitors, but it was January signing Wague who scored the goal that earned the points. However, it was a player who has been with the club for a significantly longer period, since the age of eight, who drew many plaudits from the home fans.

Lincoln-born Ryan Yates made his first start in the Championship for Forest and O'Neill. He certainly seized his chance, putting in a robust and mature display, even picking up a yellow card and looking every inch a star of the future.

His performance had fans purring on social media last night, eager to get in and pour praise on him and on O'Neill for picking him. They even suggested that had Karanka been in charge still, he might be on loan with Mansfield Town right now.

Here's the best of their responses.
