Blackpool fans will be eagerly anticipating the start of the 2020/21 campaign, as they prepare to watch their side back playing in the Championship.

It has been a tough few years for Blackpool fans, who witnessed the demise of their beloved club under the toxic ownership of the Oyston family.

But Simon Sadler has come in and turned the club's fortunes around, hiring a progressive coach in Neil Critchley who has been a roaring success at the helm thus far.

Critchley guided the Tangerines to third place in League One last season, before watching his side defeat Oxford over two semi-final legs and then Lincoln City in the Wembley final.

Blackpool are now preparing for life back in the Championship, and they will obviously have to recruit well if they wish to stay there.

Reece James and Shayne Lavery have already joined Daniel Grimshaw in arriving on free transfers - the latter joining from Premier League side Manchester City having failed to make an impact in the first-team.

But which other Premier League outcasts should the Tangerines be targeting on loan? Here's 10 we have picked out...

Simms played such an influential role for Blackpool in their bid for promotion in the second half of the season.

Simms arrived from Everton in January on loan for the remainder of the season, before scoring eight goals in 21 games in League One.

He then scored a brace in the play-off first leg win at Oxford United, helping Blackpool return to Bloomfield Road with a 3-0 advantage.

He was to play no part in the final through injury, but he made a massive impact upon his arrival from Goodison Park.

He isn't likely to be a part of Everton's first-team plans next season, and Blackpool should definitely be interested in another loan move this summer.

It hasn't quite worked out for Clarke since his move to Spurs from Leeds United in 2019.

Clarke enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season under Marcelo Bielsa in 2018/19, and was subsequently sold to Spurs for £10m in the summer of 2019.

He returned to Leeds on loan, but failed to make any sort of impact, and then flattered to deceive at QPR.

He spent part of last season at Stoke and struggled to set the world alight, and there is a feeling that he needs a full season-long loan move away to get back to his best.

A move to Blackpool could be good for him.

On the topic of Leeds, Ian Poveda could be a shrewd loan addition.

Poveda joined Leeds from Manchester City in January 2020, and he has since made 20 appearances for the Whites.

The winger made 14 Premier League appearances last season, but they were all substitute appearances and he will be searching for more regular game time.

Critchley is a manager who knows how to get the best out of young players having done so at Liverpool, and he could be seen as the right man to get these youngsters' careers going.

Williams was useful for Liverpool at times last season, after the Reds endured somewhat of an injury crisis at the back.

The 20-year-old perhaps wouldn't have expected to play any part for Jurgen Klopp's side last season, but he ended up making nine appearances in the Premier League and six appearances in the Champions League.

With Virgil van Dijk recovering from injury and Ibrahima Konate recently joining from RB Leipzig, Williams' game time is likely to be limited next season.

A loan move to Blackpool under Critchley could be key here.

Jerry Yates is likely to attract interest this summer, but regardless of whether he leaves or not, he needs competition.

Davis made 15 appearances in the Premier League last season, scoring one goal and producing one assist.

Of those 15 appearances, only one was a start, and there is definitely scope for him to go out and get some regular game time next season.

He is a physically strong and powerful centre-forward who could offer Blackpool something different going forward.

Blackpool fans may already know a fair bit about Rogers, having come up against him for Lincoln in the second half of the campaign.

Rogers joined Lincoln on loan from Manchester City in the January transfer window, and played a key part in helping the Imps reach the play-off final.

The 18-year-old scored six goals and added four assists in 25 appearances for the Imps in League One, and proved to be a real threat on either flank.

The next step for him is likely to be another loan move, this time to the Championship after thriving in League One.

Branthwaite had a taste of the Championship last season, spending time on loan at Blackburn in the second half of the season.

The 18-year-old dealt with the physical demands of the league fairly well, making 10 appearances in the Championship in total.

But an ankle injury cut his season short, and he will now be looking to get regular game time under his belt in 2020/21.

He is a centre-back by trade but can also operate at full-back, which is an area of the pitch Critchley needs to address after losing Ollie Turton to Huddersfield and Jordan Gabriel going back to Nottingham Forest.

Brighton's Ryan Longman is an interesting player.

The 20-year-old scored nine goals and produced five assists in over 50 games for Wimbledon last season, helping them survive the drop from League One.

His future at Brighton looks somewhat uncertain, though, having failed to agree terms on a new deal with his current contract expiring next summer.

The likes of Nottingham Forest have been linked with him, but Brighton may want to monitor his progress from afar once again, making a loan move a potential option.

Blackpool should pounce.

Nathan Ferguson was outstanding for West Brom in the 2019/20 campaign, scoring one goal and adding one assist in 21 outings.

He then moved on to Crystal Palace, but he is yet to make an appearance for the Eagles having endured difficulty with injury.

He will want to get out and play regularly in 2021/22, and as alluded to before, Blackpool are in need of right-backs.

Ferguson can play at right-back or even operate at left-back, and he is a talented young player who possesses a powerful presence going forward.

This could be an interesting one.

Hoever thrived at Liverpool under Critchley and the manager helped him develop before getting a taste of first-team football.

Hoever then moved to Wolves in September after Diogo Jota joined the Reds, and he went on to make 12 appearances in the Premier League last season.

That's a good start for him, but only five of those were starts and a full season of regular football could be beneficial for the Dutchman.

Sending him on loan to a manager who knows him well could be a move that suits both parties.
