QPR will be hoping they can build on an impressive second-half of the 2020/21 season under the management of Mark Warburton. 

The Rs finished ninth in the Championship table, and have plenty of reasons to feel confident heading into their season opener against Millwall on Saturday 7th August.

The London-based side have had their fair share of players that they found tough to come up against over the years,

Richard Cresswell is the first name on the list, with the former Sheffield Wednesday forward scoring seven goals against QPR during his professional footballing career.

Cresswell started his career with York City, before moving to Hillsborough in 1999. Spells with the likes of Preston North End, Leeds United and Sheffield United followed that.

Cresswell also had a spell in management with the York City in 2015, but that was a brief one in caretaker charge with the non-league side.

The 43-year-old retired from playing in 2013, but did have a brief spell with Tadcaster Albion from 2016-17.

Mark Bright is next up, with the former Crystal Palace and Sheffield Wednesday forward catching the eye with a number of strong performances against QPR over the years.

The Stoke-on-Trent born man made a name for himself at Port Vale, which earned him a move to Leicester City in 1984.

He scored regularly for Crystal Palace and Sheffield Wednesday though, which is where the majority of his goals against the Rs came for.

Bright scored seven goals in seven appearances against QPR, which certainly makes for good reading for the striker.

Not many would have predicted that Walters would work his way onto the list as one of QPR's most feared players, but his record in front of goal makes for impressive reading.

Walters scored eight goals in 11 appearances against the Rs, with the majority coming in his spell with both Ipswich Town and Stoke City.

The former Irish international started his senior career with Blackburn Rovers, but left the Lancashire-based club in in 2001.

He retired from his playing career in 2019, after a spell with Premier League Burnley, which is where he spent the final two years of his playing days.

Brian Deane is next up, as he netted eight goals in eight appearances against QPR over the years.

The 53-year-old had a relatively strong record in front of goal with most of the clubs that he played for during his footballing career.

His most impressive spell was with Sheffield United, but he also caught the eye with some impressive showings for the likes of Leeds United and Leicester City as well.

He finished his playing career with Sheffield United, after returning to Bramall Lane after a spell with Australian side Perth Glory.

Latchford made a name for himself with Birmingham City, and impressed with a number of strong performances for the Blues, after coming through the club's academy system.

Those strong showings earned him a move to Everton, where he replicated a similar record in front of goal, much to the joy of the club's supporters.

Latchford went from strength to strength with the Toffees, and scored regularly for them during the 1970's. An impressive spell with Swansea City followed that later down the line, before he finished his playing career with Welsh side Merthyr Tydfil.

Latchford scored eight goals in six appearances against QPR during his career.

Sheringham was well known for his goalscoring exploits for a number of clubs during his playing career, and it won't come as a surprise to see him on the list here.

The forward started his career with Millwall, before going on to play for the likes of Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham and Manchester United later down the line.

Sheringham netted eight goals in eight appearances against QPR over the years, which earns him a place at joint number four on the list as some of QPR's most feared players.

Sheringham was most recently seen in management, as he took charge of Swedish side AIK from 2017-2018.

Earnshaw was a prolific forward in the Championship for a number of years during his playing career.

The Welshman started his professional career with Cardiff City, before earning a move to West Brom in 2004. Spells with the likes of Norwich City, Derby County and Nottingham Forest followed that.

Earnshaw netted eight goals in seven appearances against QPR over the years, which certainly makes for impressive reading.

The forward finished his career with Vancouver Whitecaps, whilst also being a regular for the Welsh national side during his career.

Alan Shearer is another name that many would have expected to see on the list as one of QPR's most feared players from over the years.

The forward only spent time with three clubs during his career, but he impressed at all of them during his time in the game.

He started with Southampton, before moving to Blackburn Rovers. He then finished his playing career with Newcastle United, where he scored over 100 goals for the Magpies.

Shearer is now regularly seen as a pundit for the BBC, as he offers his insight into matches across the country.

Barnes is second on the list, with the former England international scoring ten goals in 15 appearances against QPR.

Barnes impressed with Watford in the early stages of his career, which saw him earn a move to Premier League giants Liverpool in 1987.

He then went on to play for Newcastle United and Charlton Athletic later down the line, before calling time on his playing days in 1999.

The 57-year-old has gone on to manage Celtic, Jamaica and Tranmere Rovers since retiring.

Ian Rush is top of the list, with the former Liverpool forward scoring 11 goals in 22 appearances in his career against the Rs.

The Welshman had two separate spells with the Reds during his playing days, and he was QPR's most feared player statistically according to Transfermarkt.

Rush also played for Juventus, Leeds United and Newcastle United as well, before calling time on his career in 2000 after a spell with Sydney Olympic.

QPR will be glad to see the back of him when he retired from his playing days.
