Huddersfield Town’s defensive record last season left a lot to be desired.

Carlos Corberan’s side conceded a whopping 71 goals across 46 games, leaving them with the Championship’s worst record.

Town’s vulnerability was underlined on their trip to Carrow Road, with Huddersfield conceding seven to Champions, Norwich City.

Emi Buendia and Teemu Pukki ripped Corberan’s system to pieces that evening, putting on an attacking masterclass.

So, what about other attackers who have gone before and caused Huddersfield a host of problems?

We dived onto transfermarkt to check out the ‘most feared’ category when it came to Huddersfield Town, identifying the 10 players that have regularly scored when coming up against the club:

Rhodes has returned to Huddersfield this summer for a second spell with the club. His goal record for Town between 2009 and 2012 was exceptional and he will be looking to add to that under Corberan.

However, Rhodes proved to be a problem for Huddersfield whenever they faced him in a Blackburn Rovers shirt. He scored six times for Rovers against Town, including a hat-trick back in 2014.

To add to that, Rhodes has also registered two assists in the 12 appearances he’s made against Huddersfield since leaving, including teeing up Josh Windass in Sheffield Wednesday’s draw with Town last year.

The current Bristol City forward has punished Huddersfield on a number of occasions over the years, scoring six goals and registering three assists in only 11 appearances.

Martin didn’t score for Bristol City in either fixture against Huddersfield last season, but he scored consistently whilst he was a Derby County player and even netted a brace when he was plying his trade with Fulham, who were 5-0 winners during the 2016/17 campaign.

Interestingly, the Scot has never been on the losing side when he’s faced Huddersfield over the years, despite those 11 appearances against the club.

McCormack is another player to have scored six goals against Huddersfield, but the Scottish striker’s exploits come in a shorter amount of only eight games.

It wasn’t until his third appearance against Huddersfield that McCormack got himself on the scoresheet, in a 5-1 win for Leeds United against Town.

They were the striker’s only goals for Leeds against Huddersfield, but he would then go on to score for both Fulham and Aston Villa.

In addition to his impressive tally of six goals in eight games, McCormack has also registered three assists in that run, meaning he’s averaging a goal involvement every time he takes on Huddersfield.

Cotterill has enjoyed a stellar career and proved to be particularly prolific whenever he took on Huddersfield Town.

The right winger scored six goals and registered one assist against Town, featuring for Doncaster Rovers, Birmingham City, Bristol City and Sheffield United against the Yorkshire side.

Three of Cotterill’s goals against Huddersfield came when he was a Birmingham player, but he also struck for Doncaster and Bristol City on the odd occasion too.

On the 11 occasions Cotterill faced Huddersfield, he tasted victory on five occasions and managed to lose just twice, sitting with a pretty record against Town.

Huddersfield stint in the Premier League between 2017 and 2019 saw Manchester City really get stuck into them, particularly when Aguero was playing.

They won all three fixtures against Huddersfield with Aguero in the side, with the Argentinian striker scoring four goals and registering one assist.

On top of that, Aguero also scored twice against Huddersfield in the FA Cup, whilst also registering an assist back in 2016/17.

In five appearances, the Man City legend scored six goals and registered two assists.

That’s impressive, but he’s been far more prolific against other sides, which is perhaps the only saving grace for Huddersfield fans.

Another player to rank high on this list of goalscorers is current Burnley striker, Matej Vydra.

Vydra has never played against Huddersfield for Burnley, but he’s previously done damage with some of his previous clubs.

The Czech striker scored an FA Cup replay hat-trick for Reading FC against Town back in 2015/16, on the back of scoring in the initial tie.

He also scored a brace for Watford in the Championship back in 2012/13, helping the Hornets to a 4-0 win over Huddersfield.

Interestingly, despite a really prolific spell as a Derby County player, Vydra never scored for the Rams against Huddersfield.

Deeney is a real Watford legend and over the years he’s got a really good scoring record against Huddersfield Town.

In 14 appearances, Deeney has scored six goals and registered three assists.

The first of his goals didn’t actually come in a Watford shirt, he scored a brace for Walsall against Town back in 2009/10, despite Huddersfield running out 4-3 winners that day.

Nevertheless, since moving to Watford and taking Huddersfield on in the Championship, the striker has been prolific, with another four goals and three assists.

However, he didn’t score in the two fixtures against Huddersfield last season and with Watford now a Premier League outfit, he won’t get the chance to add to that tally in 2021/22.

Wilson is another individual with a really good record of scoring goals at Huddersfield’s expense.

His first goals against Town came in the Championship in 2014/15, with Wilson scoring twice in a 4-0 win on the opening day of the season.

The rest of his goals, though, came in the Premier League and included a hat-trick for Bournemouth in the 2017/18 campaign.

Wilson’s following season saw him score twice and register two assists, again punishing Huddersfield in the Premier League.

Currently, Wilson is with Newcastle United and hasn’t faced Huddersfield in the last two seasons.

Grabban has been prolific right through his Championship career, scoring a host of goals for a number of different clubs.

Currently he’s with Nottingham Forest and has scored twice for the Reds against Huddersfield in four appearances, adding to the goals he scored for Bournemouth and Norwich City in the second-tier.

Prior to that, he scored four times across spells with Millwall and Brentford, meaning that the veteran striker has eight goals in 14 appearances he’s made against Huddersfield.

That’s a tally that he could well add to in the coming season, with Forest and Huddersfield set to go up against each other twice.

Top spot belongs to Burnley striker, Chris Wood.

He’s scored an incredible nine goals in 15 appearances against Huddersfield, as well as registering two assists alongside that.

Like Grabban, he’s scored those goals for a host of different clubs over the years.

He’s scored for West Brom, Leeds United, Leicester City and Millwall against Town, as well as striking for Burnley in the Premier League.

However, on the back of Huddersfield’s relegation back into the Championship, Wood hasn’t had the opportunity to add to his tally.

The New Zealand international is now firmly established as a top-flight striker.
