Barnsley sent out a real statement of intent at the weekend, as they ran out comfortable 3-0 winners over promotion-chasing Fulham at Craven Cottage.

A brace from Cauley Woodrow and a goal from Jacob Brown proved to be enough for Gerhard Struber's side, as they picked up a crucial three points on Saturday.

The Tykes are sat bottom of the Championship table, and are six points adrift of safety with 13 league games remaining of their season.

They'll know that they face a real battle to survive in the Championship this season, but with performances like the one they put in against Fulham, they've got every chance of pulling off an unlikely survival bid.

In our latest FLW Spotlight, we look into Aapo Halme's performance in more detail, and see how much of an impact the defender had on his return to the side from injury against the Cottagers.

Halme has been a key member of the Barnsley squad when available for selection, and he'll be hoping that he can stay fit for the remainder of this year's campaign.

The former Leeds defender played the full match against the Cottagers, and certainly made a positive impact on the day, as Barnsley picked up a much-needed three points.

Halme was busy throughout the match, which is highlighted in the statistics. He made ten interceptions, whilst also recovering the ball on 15 occasions against Fulham, who had the majority of the possession on the day.

Halme had the tough job of trying to keep Aleksandar Mitrovic quiet on Saturday, but he certainly did a good job in that, as the Serbian international didn't manage to add to his goal tally, which currently stands at 21.

Halme won 7 out of the 11 defensive duels he was faced with at Craven Cottage, which included winning 4/7 aerial duels he came up against.

One area that the former Leeds United defender will be looking to improve on in his game is his pass success rate, with Halme only being successful in 16 out of the 25 passes he attempted against Scott Parker's side.

However, you do have to take into consideration the opposition they were up against on the day, as Barnsley didn't see a lot of the possession, and were pressured throughout the match by Fulham.

But this was a hugely impressive return to the side for Halme, and he'll be confident of replicating performances like these as the season progresses.

He'll be keen to be involved in the starting XI for when Barnsley return to action this weekend, as they host out-of-form Middlesbrough at Oakwell.
