On the whole, it has been a relatively disappointing season for Swansea City following their relegation from the Premier League last term.

The Welsh club made a decent start to life in the Sky Bet Championship under Graham Potter, but their bid for promotion via the play-offs has since ran out of steam, and there is a real need to strengthen this month.

Despite selling millions of pounds worth of talent in the summer, including the likes of Alfie Mawson, Sam Clucas and Federico Fernandez, to name just a few, their summer transfer business really failed to impress, and they are now seemingly facing the consequences.

Nevertheless, the Swans have picked up in recent weeks having gone unbeaten in their last four league games, but with the club still sitting six points off the play-off spots in ninth position, work has to be done this month to bolster their hopes of promotion.

Here, we take a look at three transfer deals Swansea need to be considering, with just 10 days left of the January transfer window...

Lawrence Shankland

It's no secret that Swansea really do need a striker. Oli McBurnie has led the line well for Swansea this term with 11 goals to his name, but with Courtney Baker-Richardson failing to make an impact and Wilfried Bony set to depart this month, the addition of another forward certainly wouldn't go amiss.

Lawrence Shankland has been a name linked with a move to the Liberty Stadium for a few months, and there is no wonder why. The 23-year old has been incredible for Ayr United in the Scottish Championship this season, scoring an unstoppable 28 goals in 26 games.

The prolific forward is likely to have many clubs wanting to pursue his signature this month, but Swansea simply need to get this deal done.

Ronan Curtis

With winger Daniel James believed to be the subject of major interest from Championship league leaders Leeds United, Graham Potter may have to start searching for his replacement, and Portsmouth's Ronan Curtis would be an incredible replacement.

The 22-year old has been influential for the League One table-toppers this season, scoring nine goals and producing eight assists for Kenny Jackett's men following his arrival from Derry City in the summer.

The Republic of Ireland international can play on either wing and even up front if needs be, and would be a tremendous addition for the Swans.

Ben Woodburn

A loan move for Liverpool attacker and Welsh international Ben Woodburn would be a popular move amongst the Liberty Stadium faithful, and it could prove to be a fantastic addition.

The 19-year old failed to impress in the first half of the campaign on loan at Championship side Sheffield United, where he made just one league start for the Blades.

But the winger, who can also play in behind the striker, will be hungry to impress in the second half of the campaign, and a loan move back to his home country could be a smart choice from the talented youngster.
