Cardiff City remain in a great position for the promotion places this season with a huge game against Wolves coming up later this week.

The men from South Wales have been doubted for much of this season but they've ridden the crest of the wave for the whole campaign and now look set to return to the Premier League.

The job Neil Warnock has done has been absolutely superb and there is every chance that he'll win the Manager of the Year award for the second tier come the end of the campaign.

Will he be looking to take some risks in the coming months to really give the side a boost, though? Here are four we think it might be worth taking a look at...

Jerome Sinclair is a decent player he's just been well short on confidence and, therefore, chances.

He's got that self-belief in there because he thought he was good enough to play in the Premier League when he left Liverpool, someone just needs to bring that out.

Neil Warnock has done a good job before in doing just that and you could see it potentially working again.

Aron Gunnarsson's future looks in doubt at the moment at Cardiff and it looks as though his contract will currently not be renewed.

Of course, that could change upon promotion in the summer but a back-up plan is needed now just in case.

With Birkir Bjarnason a similar player and potentially leaving Villa in the next window, there might just be an argument to suggest it's worth going after him.

Lee Tomlin is doing well at Forest and could be proving why Cardiff perhaps shouldn't have let him go on loan - not that they have really missed him.

With that form in mind, though, there is every chance that the club could be taking a risk in letting him go from the club in the summer if that is what happens.

Time will only tell with that one though.

Southampton look in real trouble right now and might just end up dropping down to the Championship come the end of this campaign.

With that said, then, Cardiff could be one of the sides looking bring in some of their players.

£10.8m-rated Charlie Austin will surely be a wanted man in that case, then, with his class in mind but it would still remain a risk with his injury issues in mind. Probably worth it though!
