Neil Harris was appointed as Neil Warnock's successor last weekend as Cardiff City brought their search for a new manager to abrupt end, with the Bluebirds having only had the void for just five days.

The 42-year-old former Millwall boss brings a wealth of Championship experience to the role, having managed the south London club in over 100 second division games, thus providing the Welsh club with a manager who in theory is capable of coping with the club's high expectations.

Harris takes on a vastly experienced and talented squad, however this hasn't stopped the Bluebirds from being linked with securing the signature of Celtic winger Jonny Hayes, with Teamtalk.com reporting on their interest on Saturday.

The 32-year-old former Aberdeen man boasts a solid record, with the wide man boasting over 100 assists in 400 plus career games, underlining his superior creative qualities.

Here, we take a look at ONE winner and ONE loser of Cardiff potentially sealing a deal for Hayes during the January transfer window....

Winner

Robert Glatzel

One player who would certainly be the winner of any potential deal being agreed is Robert Glatzel, with the striker having struggled to find the net on a consistent basis since arriving at the Cardiff City Stadium from FC Heidenheim, meaning that he would certainly benefit from the creative qualities that Hayes has to offer.

Glatzel has only managed to find the back of the net on two occasions, perhaps suggesting that he needs more support in attacking areas, and Hayes would certainly be a good candidate to provide that support if he makes the move to the Championship.

Loser

Gavin Whyte

One loser of any potential deal for Hayes is Gavin Whyte, who of course only arrived at the club this summer but has so far failed to make a strong impact despite being gifted regular starting opportunites this term.

The arrival of Hayes could spell bad news for the 23-year-old Northern Irishman, with the Bluebirds already possessing the likes of Josh Murphy and Junior Hoilett in wide areas, meaning competition for places is already strong for a starting berth in wide areas.

It remains to be seen if Cardiff will indeed act on their perceived interest, but it would be fair to say that Whyte will be hopeful that they don't.
