The January transfer window is just around the corner and there is no doubt that clubs such as Swansea City will be prepairing to improve their sides when it opens.

Steve Cooper's side have had an excellent start to the season, currently nestled in the play-off places, but they will surely be keen to strengthen further ahead of the second half of the season.

One player who has been linked with a move is Celtic winger Jonny Hayes, with The Scottish Sun reporting that Swansea are among the clubs looking to sign him.

The 32-year-old's deal in Glasgow is set to expire in the summer, sparking a lot of interest ahead of the January window.

So, here are 1 winner and 1 loser at Swansea if the deal goes through...

Borja Baston

The Spaniard has enjoyed a real resurgence this season having looked like a waste of money for the Swans for so long.

And one way to ensure that he stays on top of his game is to introduce more creative talent to compete with eachother. Someone of Hayes' experience will surely prove to be a real help in him maintaining his fine form.

It is a move that would most likely prompt the club's other creators to step up their game as well, meaning the likes of Baston will have some brilliant service at their disposal.

Kristoffer Peterson

The Swede has not had the best of times since making the move to South Wales in the summer.

So far he has made just three second-tier appearances with his last run-out coming in the 3-0 defeat to Brentford at the Liberty.

Yes, with two elder statesman in Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge ahead of him in the pecking order, there is a good chance that he will get opportunities.

But if Hayes is to arrive then his chances may become close to non-existent.
