Mark Bowen's Reading will surely be open to making new additions when the January transfer window opens in a few weeks time, with the Royals looking to improve upon their current situation.

One player who could well be on their way to the Madejski Stadium is 24-year-old Chelsea playmaker Lewis Baker, with the player reportedly unhappy with life at German Bundesliga club Fortuna Dusseldorf.

According to German publication Bild, the midfielder has grown disillusioned with life at the Merkur Spiel-Arena, with the former Leeds United loanee having only played a part in seven games this term.

Inevitably all this talk of Baker's apparent discontent has reestablished rumours of the midfielder returning to the Berkshire based club for whom he had a largely uninspiring loan spell with last campaign, making 19 appearances and registering one goal and one assist.

Here we take a look at ONE winner and ONE loser of Reading sealing a return for Baker in the January window....

Winner

Ovie Ejaria

One player who will certainly benefit from the arrival of Baker is Ovie Ejaria, the 22-year-old has had to shoulder much of the creative responsibility in the Reading side this term, contributing three goals and two assists so far.

The addition of Baker would not only take the pressure off the shoulders of Ejaria but also give the Royals a lot more of a goal threat from midfield, with goals particularly lacking from that area of the team.

Loser

Josh Barrett

On the other hand, a man who is sure to be affected negatively by a transfer for Baker is 21-year-old midfielder Josh Barrett, with the youngster having broken through in the early stages of the current campaign, the presence of the more experienced figure of Baker could curtail his progress.

Barrett may seek to make another loan move away from the Madejski in January, with the Irishman having been largely out of favour since Bowen took charge at the club.
