With Luton Town languishing at the foot of the Championship table, changes seem likely this month at Kenilworth Road as Graeme Jones seeks to reinvigorate his squad after their dismal run of form recently.

The Hatters have shipped an astonishing 56 goals already this term and as a result it seems that the defensive third of the field is the sector that is in the most need of strengthening.

One man who could well be on his way to the Bedfordshire based side as a solution to this ongoing problem is Sheffield United defender Ben Heneghan, with the Sun journalist Alan Nixon reporting that the Hatters are interested in acquiring the services of the 26-year-old defender this month:

Heneghan is currently impressing many on loan at League One outfit Blackpool and could well be ready to make the step up to Championship football this month.

Here, we take a look at ONE winner and ONE loser at Luton if they complete a deal for Heneghan this month....

Winner

Sonny Bradley

The Luton skipper has been far and away Luton's best performer in the backline and could well be the main beneficiary of Heneghan coming through the door at Kenilworth Road.

With Heneghan coming into the backline, Luton will be boosted by a player who has shown good form for Blackpool thus far and would be capable of slotting straight into defence alongside Bradley and Matty Pearson, with the former benefiting from the 26-year-old's pace and ability to read the game.

Loser

Martin Cranie

The main casualty of this move coming to fruition would in theory be Martin Cranie, with the experienced utility man having slotted into defence when the Hatters have deployed a back three on occasion this term.

Heneghan's arrival would in theory see him slot straight into the backline, thus seeing Cranie potentially slip down the pecking order under Jones in the coming months.
