Cardiff City now face an uphill battle to land Aston Villa's Jonathan Kodjia with Turkish giants Besiktas now reportedly ready to try and acquire the Ivorian, according to Fotomac.

Football Insider reported earlier this week that Neil Harris and the Bluebirds' board had identified the proven Championship frontman as someone who could improve their side in January with Villa willing to listen to offers as well.

It is not yet clear who is the front runner for his signature although it is likely that the lure of Europa League football with the Turkish side could prove more tempting than another spell in the Championship.

So, if the move does not go ahead, who would be the big winner and loser in South Wales?

Robert Glatzel

There is no doubt that the expensive summer signing would come away from this scenario as the big winner.

Rumours of Kodjia's arrival will undoubtedly heap even more pressure on him to perform in front of goal and with only two to his name so far, that is already a considerable amount.

He will now be hoping that in the second half of the season, Harris will give him the chance to grow into his role a bit more and that more patience will now be allowed to him.

Lee Tomlin

There is little doubt that when he is on form, Tomlin is the Bluebirds' brightest creative force.

He has an eye for a pass unlike anyone else when in and around the opposition penalty area and so often it can prove the difference between a point and three points.

So he will have undoubtedly been keen to see the competition for striking places increase in order to get the best out of those he will be providing for. Surely someone of Kodjia's experience would have been absolutely ideal for the former Bristol City and Peterborough man.
