Bristol City have reportedly had a bid rejected for star Charlton striker Lyle Taylor.

The forward has struggled with his injuries throughout the current campaign but was excellent during the early weeks of the Championship campaign.

He played a pivotal part during Charlton's promotion to the Championship last season and is now clearly wanted by other clubs in the division. Alongside this, it has also been reported that the player has rejected a new contract offer to stay at Charlton.

Here's ONE winner and ONE loser if the Robins manage to complete the deal for Taylor...

Lee Johnson

The Bristol City manager has basically been crying out for a new striker in the current window, and ever since Benik Afobe picked up a serious injury at the start of the season. He could be a big winner out of this deal, as it could give him the player to earn the Robins a play-off place.

Taylor has the potential to be a very good Championship striker, and he's showed that he can trouble defences in this division. Bristol City are desperate for a new frontman who consistently knows where the back of the net is in order to lift them into contention for a place in the Premier League, the signing would please Johnson the most out of everybody.

Famara Diedhiou

It would be disappointing to see Diedhiou drop to the bench, but he would certainly not get as many starts as he would like if Taylor was to be brought into the club over the January window. Bristol City need more options and it would be a welcome boost to the squad, but they have to ensure that they don't freeze out other players in the Robins team.

Diedhiou hasn't always been the most consistent but one thing he has done is step up at crucial times in big games for Bristol City. He won't be happy to see the arrival of a new striker and will see it as a lack of trust from Lee Johnson.
