Jack Ross continued his impressive start to life in English football as the Black Cats' extended their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-1 win against AFC Wimbledon.

Experienced midfielder Lee Cattermole was the hero this time around scoring not one rare goal but two rare goals to bring his side back from behind at Kingsmeadow.

Joe Pigott gave the hosts the lead in the ninth minute and it looked as though they could take all three points, defending resolutely but not sitting back against their heavily fancied opponents.

But Cattermole prodded home a scrappy equaliser on the 66th minute before volleying home sweetly on the 83rd to steal all three points from the Wombles.

So who was the big winner and who lost out in this match?

The man with over 230 Sunderland appearances came away as the winner in this one.

One of the only survivors from the Black Cats' turbulent time over the last few years, Cattermole showed why he is still important to the team with two crucial goals.

An experienced performer and someone who could prove incredibly useful in what looks set to be a closely fought title battle.

Glenn Loovens did not come out of this match particularly well.

The centre-back struggled with a tight groin throughout the first half which allowed the home side much more time and space on the ball than they should have been.

He was taken off at halftime for Alim Ozturk and the improvement in the team was instant. A spell on the bench may be in store.
