Some worrying news emerged for Swansea City ahead of the January transfer window on Monday afternoon.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe revealed that he would consider recalling striker Sam Surridge from his loan spell at The Liberty in the New Year to help ease his side's injury concerns.

Surridge has been impressive since arriving in South Wales, netting two crucial goals already as well as having a consistent impact from the start or from the bench.

But if he is to leave in January, here is ONE winner and ONE loser at Swansea from the scenario...

Borja Baston

The Spaniard is undoubtedly the winner from this potential situation as it leaves his competition for places significantly less intense.

Baston started the season like an animal but his form has dropped off significantly in recent weeks, failing to score in the club's last ten games, only starting four of them as well.

Whilst Surridge was not a regular starter either, he was gradually edging ahead of him in the pecking order so it is possible that a part of Baston may subtly be hoping that Bournemouth do decide to recall his teammate in January.

Bersant Celina

The Kosovan remains one of Swansea's most brilliant creators, but he has struggled so far this season, contributing just two goals and one assist in 18 games.

One thing that is currently ensuring that he still has a good chance of bouncing back, is the intense competition up front. Surridge, Baston and Andre Ayew are all in contention of taking that lone striker role and so they are all being kept on their toes.

But if Surridge is to leave, it will only lead to those levels dropping, thus making the job of Celina's even harder and limiting the chances he has of performing.
