Pele has been an often quietly impressive presence in Reading's midfield this season but his loan spell is slowly ticking towards the end.

The Monaco man signed for the season back in the summer, making 28 appearances in the second-tier, netting his first goal on Saturday with a brilliant curling effort to round off a 3-1 win against Birmingham City.

However, some hope was offered after the match.

Speaking to The Reading Chronicle he admitted that he loves the club and would be open to staying next season.

But who at the club would benefit from the move and who would lose out if he were to hang around?

Michael Morrison

He may have scored on Saturday but Pele's defensive abilities are probably his biggest strength, breaking up play and generally offering protection to the back-four.

As a result, Morrison is likely to benefit the most from him sticking around.

The former Birmingham City man has been the regular starter in defence this season and with Matt Miazga only at the club on loan, there is no guarantee that he would be here next season to benefit from Pele sticking around.

QUIZ: Can you identify these 15 Reading players purely based on their date of birth and birthplace?

Felipe Araruna

The Brazilian has found it difficult to assert himself in the Reading midfield so far this season with Charlie Adam, Andy Rinomhota, John Swift and Pele all ahead of him in the pecking order.

If all four stick around then Araruna will find himself in the exact same position once again next season and it may well result in him departing on a short loan.

Of course, he could really impress in pre-season and establish himself, but at the moment he is likely to be the one who loses out most from this move.
