In one of the more unexpected transfer links of the window, Fulham defender Cyrus Christie is reportedly of interest to European giants AS Roma this month, with Sky Sports Italy reporter Gianluca Di Marzio stating that the Giallorossi are eyeing a move for the Irishman.

Christie has found himself to be largely out of favour at Craven Cottage this term, with the 27-year-old full back having fallen behind Steven Sessegnon and Denis Odoi in the pecking order under Scott Parker for the right back spot.

With just 801 minutes of football to his name so far, the former Derby County man could well be open to a move to the Serie A Champions League chasers as he seeks to rejuvenate his season.

Scott Parker will no doubt be seeking to trim his squad over the coming months as he looks to offset the costs incurred by Fulham's lavish spending as they ultimately failed to secure their Premier League status.

It would surely be a move that Christie is open to making as he seeks to add to his 24 caps for the Republic of Ireland over the next few months.

Here, we take a look at ONE winner and ONE loser of Fulham sanctioning a departure for Cyrus Christie....

Winner

Steven Sessegnon

As one of Fulham's brightest young prospects in recent years, Sessegnon would surely reap the rewards of seeing his teammate depart this month as he looks to hold down a place in the starting eleven under Parker.

The teenager has only been afforded 644 minutes so far this term and Christie's departure would go along way towards decreasing the amount of competition there is for places in the back four, with Sessegnon currently stuck behind Odoi in that respect.

At the age of 19, the youngster really needs to be playing on a more regular basis and for that matter he will no doubt be keen to put in some impressive showings for the Whites over the course of the second half of the season.

One thing that will stand the defender in good stead is that he provides a far more offensive option than Odoi, which is something that should appeal to a more attack-minded manager like Parker.

Loser

Denis Odoi

The Belgian defender would surely be the loser of this transfer going through as it would mean that the versatile defender would have to maintain his presence at right back.

Odoi is far more comfortable when playing in his preferred position of centre back and for that matter the 31-year-old may be hoping that his teammate remains at Craven Cottage this month.

Despite putting in some assured showings for the Whites at right back, the former Anderlecht man will be keen to attempt to establish himself as Parker's go to guy for the role of centre back alongside Tim Ream.

With Alfie Mawson having put in a series of mixed performances for the Whites, Odoi could well move himself into contention for a starting spot in central defence if Christie stays put.
