Bristol City are plotting a move for Leicester City centre-back Filip Benkovic with Brendan Rodgers willing to let him leave in order to gain more game time.

The 22-year-old was brought to Celtic by Rodgers during his time north of the border and was impressed with what he saw, although he remains considerably down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium.

Derby County were reportedly leading the race to secure his signature until the end of the season but according to the Mail Online, Lee Johnson and his team have now entered the running as well as they look to get their promotion push back on track.

Here, we take a look at the winners and losers at Ashton Gate if he were to arrive...

Daniel Bentley

The goalkeeper has been largely excellent so far this season and has often come to the rescue of his teammates when called upon.

However, he would almost certainly prefer that he did not have to come to the rescue quite so frequently and the increased competition that Benkovic would bring with him would almost certainly raise the levels of all those currently competing.

Bentley would certainly retain his current levels as well, but would likely be called upon less frequently.

Taylor Moore

The 22-year-old has been in and out of Lee Johnson's side so far this season so you get the feeling that he would be the one most liable to tumble down the pecking order first.

He has largely lucked out this season with Thomas Kalas suffering a serious injury early on, which gifted him a host of first-team opportunities.

And whilst he has done well when called upon, it is unlikely that they would bring Benkovic in without intending to play him - and somebody has to be bumped down in his place.
