Nottingham Forest ended the first month of the season with a frustrating 1-1 home draw against Preston North End on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds went into the clash with the Lilywhites full of confidence, after picking up seven points from three games in the space of a week, against Birmingham City, Charlton Athletic and Fulham.

After easing past Derby County in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night as well, Sabri Lamouchi's side were expected to pick up three points against a Preston side that were yet to pick up any points away from home this season.

But Forest were far off their recent high standards of late, with Preston taking a deserved lead just before half-time through Billy Bodin.

The Reds failed to create any real clear-cut chances in the opening 45 minutes and failed to play with their usual slick, fast-paced tempo in midfield.

Three substitutions changed the game for Forest, though. Samba Sow came on and added drive to the midfield, with Joao Carvalho providing the all-important assist for Albert Adomah's late strike.

Here, we take a look at Adomah's impact on Saturday afternoon, as Forest's August ended with a 1-1 draw at the City Ground.

As Forest pushed for a goal in the latter stages of the contest, Adomah replaced Sammy Ameobi in the 75th minute of the game, and four minutes later, he made a massive impact.

The 31-year-old came on and occupied the left flank but found himself playing down the middle, as Carvalho threaded a fantastic pass through to him - he made no mistake in slotting home under Declan Rudd with a side-footed effort.

That happened to be Adomah's only touch inside the box as well as his only shot of the game, with most of his work coming out wide.

Ameobi had played far too narrow and struggled to get past Alan Browne down the flanks at the weekend, a problem that Adomah solved straight away with his electric pace.

The winger got the City Ground up off their feet with a fantastic dummy to get away from Browne, completing two out of four successful dribbles, an average rate of 50%.

Adomah also picked out two out of three passes at the weekend, as Forest failed to push on and get the winning goal after finding the net with 10 minutes left to play.

An impressive 20-minute cameo from Adomah, then, with the wide-man coming on to cause problems for the opposition as he did against Charlton Athletic last week.

After putting in a dazzling display from the off against Derby County in midweek, you would imagine that the attacker isn't too far away from a regular starting place in the Forest side.
