Sheffield Wednesday lost their unbeaten record under Jos Luhukay at the weekend as Birmingham City overran them to win 3-1.

The game at Hillsborough was as good as over by half-time such was the Owls' poor first half performance and though they slightly rallied in the second 45 they never got close to getting back into the game.

A worrying performance from some Owls players, then, whilst you could argue that the jury remains out on our latest FLW Spotlight subject, Joey Pelupessy.

Signed in January, Luhukay clearly felt the combative midfielder would help tighten things up in terms of their defensive record.

And, though, clean sheets have been recorded under the new manager, Pelupessy did at times get overrun in midfield at the weekend.

For sure, he still needs time to settle in and should be given that, too, with his stats from the game suggesting there's a decent player there but he perhaps needs to enforce himself:

We've seen he likes a tackle already for the Owls but recording just the one at the weekend summed up his and the team's performance - tame.

The Owls for some reason couldn't really get near their opponents and Pelupessy seemed to find it hard to get on the pace of the game.

He made plenty of passes, of course, with most finding their target but this was perhaps a performance that won't live long in the memory.

We've seen signs of what he can do, but it's evident he's perhaps not quite up to speed yet.
