Tyler Blackett let his team down by picking up a red card.

Reading lost 3-0 at Hillsborough to Wednesday with Blackett picking up the red card at that scoreline.

This straight red card means he misses the next three matches which includes a key game against Ipswich that the Royals have to win because their last game of the season is against second place Cardiff City.

Blackett's statistics prior to the red card aren't bad because he made 35 passes with a 77.1% success rate, so he was effective at recycling possession. He also made two successful dribbles, so he took some successful risks with the ball in order to help his side.

Having only one tackle isn't the best, but it's not the best indicator of an individual's performance. These numbers are all in line with where he would normally be at that time of the match, so he wasn't performing performing below average even if his team were struggling to deal with Wednesday's attacks.

Unfortunately, his red card will define this performance because it was a silly off-the-ball incident that was needless. It ensured Reading's chance of a result went from slim to non-existent, and the worst part is that he will play no part in the final fixtures of the season. He can't be doing things like that even if he is frustrated with how the game has gone.
