Ross Wallace and Glenn Loovens are among the players who will be leaving Sheffield Wednesday this summer after the club announced their retained list on their official website.

Wallace and Loovens will leave at the end of the season once their contract expires with Sheffield Wednesday and they will be joined by goalkeeper Jake Kean in making their Hillsborough exits this summer.

Loovens, 34, has been at Wednesday for five years, making well over 100 appearances in that time while Wallace, 32, has also played over 100 matches since arriving from Burnley in 2015.

Kean did not make a single appearance for Sheffield Wednesday.

But while three players have departed, the Owls have confirmed that left-back Daniel Pudil has agreed a new one-year deal at the club.

The 32-year-old defender has impressed with his performances in recent weeks and has earned himself an extension.

Sheffield Wednesday have also offered new deals to six other players, including popular striker Atdhe Nuhiu.

The towering 6ft 5in Kosovo international, 28, has enjoyed a return to the first team recently, scoring six in his last eight games to help them comfortably stay up.

Highly-rated young duo Sean Clare (midfielder) and George Hirst (striker) have also been offered an extension alongside goalkeeper Dan Wallis, defender Jack Lee and midfielder Warren Clarke.

Loan duo Jacob Butterfield and Frederico Venacio will head back to their parent clubs once their respective loan deals expire at Hillsborough.

The Verdict

There will be two emotional goodbyes in the final game of the season for the Owls with long-serving duo Wallace and Loovens providing excellent service for the club over the past few years. Sheffield Wednesday fans will be delighted to see Pudil extend his deal as he has been a much better option at left back than Morgan Fox. Getting Nuhiu and Clare to commit their futures to Wednesday will also be a major bonus but you get the feeling that the contract offer to Hirst is just to avoid losing him on a free. The England youth international will instead command a compensation fee when the likes of Manchester United or Everton inevitably swoop this summer.
