Charlton suffered another disappointing away defeat at the weekend, going down 3-1 to relegation rivals Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium.

The result means that the Addicks slip further towards the drop zone in the Championship, with the Potters also leapfrogging the south London side in the table.

The Addicks' dreadful run on their travels also rumbles on. Lee Bowyer's side have not won in the league on the road since August 31st. Charlton now sit in 21st place, four points clear of Wigan Athletic, who occupy the final relegation spot.

Goals from James McClean, Tom Ince and Nick Powell downed the Addicks, but left-back Ben Purrington got on the scoresheet for the away side, and proved to be one of Charlton's bright sparks during the game.

Here, we break down the 23-year-old's numbers during the contest...

QUIZ: How much do you know about Charlton's January signings?

The former Rotherham United man took his goal excellently well - connecting with Andre Green's cross from the right-hand side on the volley, which sailed past Jack Butland in the Stoke City net.

It was an odd sight to see Purrington as one of the furthest forward players on the pitch during the attacking move, but it paid dividends in the end.

His strike proved to be in vain for the Addicks, but the statistics show that the 23-year-old also did well for his team in defence.

Purrington had a solid game at left-back for Charlton, contributing with two successful aerial duels and four interceptions.

However, one area which needs to be improved on is his passing accuracy, which dipped below 50% against Stoke, contributing in part to Charlton giving the ball away cheaply on occasion throughout the game.

Purrington has been hit and miss at times this season for the Addicks, as he has found the step up to the Championship tough to adapt to.

Despite that, the left-back was one of Charlton's better players on the pitch last Saturday, and he will be hoping to take that forward onto Tuesday, where they make a tough trip to the City Ground to face 4th place Nottingham Forest.
