Aston Villa maintained their perfect start at the weekend but only just as they beat Wigan 3-2 with a late, late goal.

The game at Villa Park proved a topsy-turvy affair.

After going in front, Villa would find themselves 2-1 down against their visitors as they also looked for their second win of the campaign.

Things, though, turned in Villa's favour as a Cheyenne Dunkley own goal levelled things up before the winner was hit by Birkir Bjarnason.

The subject of our latest FLW Spotlight, though, is the man who started the scoring for the Villans - James Chester:

At the heart of Villa's side and win, Chester put in a decent display.

Though two goals were conceded by his side, he looked solid again whilst his goal in the early stages underlined his ability in both boxes.

Indeed, his aerial prowess continued as he won five duels in the air whilst his 14 clearances were key as Wigan continued to flood forward in their rather cavalier style.

Certainly, this was a game where one would outscore the other rather than a tight affair thanks to the attacking flair on show.

But, at the same time, whoever had a better grasp of things defensively would surely have a better chance of the three points.

Thankfully for Villa, then, Chester was on their side.
