1 goal, 2 assists: The Liverpool man edging closer to another Championship loan stint

Reading FC are said to be edging closer to re-signing Liverpool midfielder, Ovie Ejaria on loan for the season according to journalist, Alan Nixon.

The 21-year-old spent the second-half of last year’s campaign at the Madejski Stadium, and has seemingly made a good impression on Royals boss, Jose Gomes.

Ejaria is the subject of our FLW Spotlight this week, so we look into his statistics from last season in more detail below.

In terms of direct contribution towards goals for Reading, Ejaria’s statistics don’t make the best of reading in all honesty, which will come as a slight disappointment to the Liverpool man.

He scored just once in his time with the club, as he finished a wonderful team move in their 1-1 draw against Rotherham United.

The 21-year-old only has two assists to his name as well, and if he is to sign along the dotted line at the Madejski Stadium for another season, then he’ll be hoping to improve that statistic in particular.

He attempts an average of 1.1 shots per game, which for a central attacking midfielder, is something that he’ll be keen to improve ahead of next season.

His technical ability on the ball is one of his main attributes, and he attempts on average, 2.3 dribbles per game.

Reading boss, Jose Gomes has introduced a possession-based style of play, and that has seen the Royals retain their status as a Championship club for another season with a number of impressive performances.

Ejaria has been at the heart of that as well, with the midfielder linking defence to attack last season with the Royals.

He averages almost 40 passes per game, and with a pass success rate of 86.7%, it certainly makes for impressive reading for the Madejski Stadium faithful.

Ejaria is a player of real quality who Jose Gomes will be delighted to have for another season, and he’ll be keen to build on some positive performances towards the back end of last year’s league campaign.
