Ipswich Town started their new campaign with a hard-earned draw at home against Blackburn Rovers.

It is a new era at Portman Road with long-serving manager Mick McCarthy departing and being replaced by Paul Hurst.

Hurst's first test was against Blackburn, who have recently been promoted from League One, and he earned a late 2-2 draw with two new players netting on debut.

Tayo Edun scored a dramatic late equaliser but the star man was definitely Gwion Edwards, who arrived this summer from Peterborough United.

Here, FLW looks at his performance in numbers from the Blackburn clash.

Edwards immediately endeared himself to his new fanbase by popping up at the back post and heading in Freddie Sears' cross.

The former Posh winger was left unmarked on the right wing, arriving as Sears' ball sailed over the defence and controlling his header well to give Ipswich a fifth minute lead.

The 25-year-old also helped tracking back, making three tackles to help shackle the threat posed by Blackburn's attackers.

Ipswich fans will be hoping that Edwards can maintain his high performance levels for the upcoming fixtures, as Hurst continues to work with his new squad.

If he can keep this up, Edwards might turn into one of the bargains of the summer.
