Bolton Wanderers face a tough ask if they're to retain their League One status this term, with Keith Hill's men currently sat bottom of the league table.

It has recently been revealed by Bolton boss Keith Hill that he is keen to offer a trial to Ben Marshall ahead of a potential move for the midfielder.

Marshall has been out of contract since he had his contract with Norwich City mutually terminated at the end of last year's campaign.

In our latest FLW Spotlight, we look into Marshall's statistics from last season to see whether he would be a good addition for Keith Hill's side in League One.

Marshall made four league appearances for Norwich during the 2018/19 season, before finding game time limited with Daniel Farke's side.

Their good run of form saw them challenging for the Championship title (which they eventually won), and it meant that Farke was reluctant to make many changes to his side.

Marshall then moved to Millwall on loan for the remainder of the season, and went on to make ten league appearances for Neil Harris' side as they finished 21st in the league table.

But he struggled to make a notable impact with the Lions, and only scored once in a win over Burton Albion in February.

The 28-year-old only chipped in with one assist as well, so it certainly wasn't a season that Marshall will be keen to remember in a hurry.

The midfielder attempted 679 passes across the 2018/19 season, and with a pass accuracy percentage of 74.8%, his passing is certainly a real strength of his going forward.

Bolton could certainly benefit from having a player of his quality in their side, and it would come as a surprise to many if the League One club were able to attract a player of Marshall's ability to their team.

The Trotters have struggled to provide the likes of Daryl Murphy with chances to score, and with the aerial presence that the experienced forward has in his attributes, it seems like a wasted summer signing at the moment.

But if Bolton were to sign Marshall, he could be the winger that could gift Murphy the chances that he needs in front of goal going forward for the remainder of this year's campaign.

In total, he attempted 71 crosses in total, and will be keen to beat that heading into this season, which is certainly a possibility if he can find regular minutes with Keith Hill's side in the future.

It remains to be seen as to whether Bolton will land Marshall's signature, but the club's supporters will surely be wanting their side to sign a player that has proven himself at a higher level than Bolton are currently playing in.
