Wigan have seemingly romped to the League One title, although they will be sweating a little on the form of Blackburn in the last two games.

The prize of the title is secondary though, promotion has to be the sole aim and they've achieved that.

Their cup antics shocked the behemoth of Manchester City, but it is the consistent and organised run to the top two which fans will cherish the most. No disrespect to Rochdale or Accrington, but seeing Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest on the fixture list is far more attractive.

The key now is to shed to yo-yo image and establish themselves back in the Championship before building for an assault on a much bigger prize, the Premier League.

Despite being recent FA Cup winners and a stable Premier League side, Wigan have always been punching above their weight and to push for the top ten in the Championship will require them to do so again.

Here are six players we feel might help them make the transition smoothly.

£1.8m-rated Wilson has been there, done that and although he's been a part of the Sunderland side to be relegated, he still has plenty to offer a Championship side.

That experience could be invaluable for Wigan and signing him on a free transfer would be a wise move.

Whilst we wouldn't recommend just picking up Sunderland rejects, we do think there's value in LuaLua, certainly for Wigan Athletic.

We wouldn't be putting all the club's hopes on his shoulders, but the pressure cooker atmosphere of Sunderland was not helpful in a player's development.

He's tricky, pacey and without that burden might yet make a top Championship player.

Jordan Graham is the forgotten man of Wolves, but he could be the next star for Wigan Athletic.

Look at how Nick Powell has thrived, a player once full of promise who fell on hard times. Jordan Graham is in a similar mould, a tricky winger who needs to rebuild his career. He's got to worth a gamble, surely?

Nuhiu has Championship experience and could be a target man for which to aim a few long balls to. He's going to be down the pecking order at Wednesday, if they offer him a new deal at all, if not he's free as a bird.

He isn't prolific, but Will Grigg has a few this season and maybe could get a few more playing off the big man.

Wouldn't this be a coup, of sorts? The former Sunderland man has been helping Blackburn to the Championship, then he sensationally swaps teams and joins their promotion rivals.

Graham might be 32-years old but he's still good for a few goals and if Wigan are to survive in the second tier, they need to get Grigg some help.

Christian Walton has been on loan at Wigan, meaning they need a new number one for the next campaign.

Be Hamer is out of contract at Leicester and might be tempted to drop into the Championship for regular first team football. He's a decent player too, with nine Foxes appearances to his name this season.
