What Gary Rowett has done at Derby County in the last year has been remarkable, with the 43-year-old transforming the Rams into automatic promotion contenders.

Derby have always been the ‘nearly men’ who flirted with a Premier League return in recent years, however, Rowett looks like delivering that top-flight return after an exceptional first 30 games of the 2017/18 campaign, combined with some shrewd recruitment.

The Rams currently sit second in the Sky Bet Championship table, well adrift of runaway leaders, Wolves, but ahead of the chasing pack that includes Aston Villa and Cardiff City.

Some of the numbers Rowett has posted in the last year have been impressive following his appointment at the Pride Park Stadium last March.

Rowett has overseen 42 fixtures during his time as Derby’s manager, managing to record a 50% win-ratio with 21 victories to his name.

Derby have drawn a further 12 of those fixtures and lost on just nine occasions under Rowett.

The 43-year-old has also managed to pick up an impressive 1.79 points per game on average.

Derby are in action this weekend against Norwich City, where Rowett’s side will be looking to stay ahead of the chasing pack.
