Frank Lampard is ready to embark on his first managerial job and will hope to guide Derby County back to the Premier League.

Whilst that will be a tough task for the Chelsea legend, he will be confident a fresh approach and a few new signings could make the difference to a side that did make the top six last season.

Yet, there are still clear issues with the Rams squad, with a lot of older players in the squad and a lack of energy and pace at times.

Given that, Lampard could be busy this summer as he looks to stamp his own influence on the team and here we look at three potential signings that could turn the East Midlands side into real promotion contenders...

There's no doubt that the majority of Derby's recruitment will see younger players arrive, however one experienced addition could be Lampard and assistant Jody Morris' close friend John Terry.

He played well for Villa last season and would be a major influence in the dressing room and someone Lampard knows he can trust.

Providing he takes a wage cut it would be a great deal for all involved.

The new management team will know all about the talented youngsters coming through at Chelsea and one is Palmer.

The £1.35m-rated star spent the second half of the season with Derby but failed to get a regularly run in the starting XI despite impressing.

That would change under Lampard and he could fourish in the Championship.

The Liverpool man was superb for Hull towards the end of the campaign on loan and many Championship clubs are after the Wales international as a result.

Wilson has great pace, skill and an eye for goal and would be a big addition for the Rams.

Derby were a bit predictable at times last season so bringing in players like Wilson is a must.
