Things are looking good for Derby County in the Sky Bet Championship, with Gary Rowett’s side moving into the division’s top-six in recent weeks and opening up a healthy gap to seventh.

The Rams are back in action this Saturday afternoon, travelling to Oakwell to face Barnsley, where Rowett will be hoping his side can strengthen their grip on a place in the top-six.

Here at FLW, we take a look at the starting XI Rowett could select, with a few key changes from last weekend’s 1-0 victory over Burton Albion.

Scott Carson will be expected to continue in goal, behind a defence that remains unchanged from last weekend, with Chris Baird, Richard Keogh, Curtis Davies and Marcus Olsson lining-up from right to left.

Ahead of the defence, George Thorne and Joe Ledley are more than deserving of retaining their place in midfield, with Tom Huddlestone left out.

Ahead of them, in the attacking trio of Rowett’s favoured 4-2-3-1 formation, Bradley Johnson should return on the left, with £1.35m-rated Johnny Russell coming back into the starting XI to replace Tom Lawrence on the right.

Matej Vydra will continue in the number 10 role, behind lone striker, Chris Martin.
